Macy's got its start in 1858 as a small dry goods shop on the corner of14th Street and 6th Avenue in New York City. The store's rapid success led to the opening of the landmark Herald Square location in 1902, where it earned the name "America's Largest Department Store." Along with national success, the company's signature events like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade® and the 4th of July Fireworks® have made Macy's an American institution.
