We show up in a big way

Giving back is a core value & a hallmark of our culture. One way we commit to the communities where we live & work is through our
Partners in Time Colleague Volunteerism Program.

Since 1989, our colleagues have volunteered over three million hours of community service to thousands of charities across the country—
that’s a value of more than $60 million for our partners!*.

We love giving back

Our teams in action

Give Back Day

Every August for the past 13 years, Macy’s colleagues have come together for our giving campaign, The Big Give Back. One our favorite parts of the campaign is Give Back Day, when more than 400 New York City-based colleagues partner up with a local nonprofit. In 2019 we went to Grand Street Settlement in downtown Manhattan where colleagues bundled books, stuffed backpacks with school supplies, beautified the center’s gardens, held a carnival for local children & a luau-themed party for senior citizens. Macy’s also provided Grand Street Settlement with a $30,000 grant.

Disaster relief

Following the devastation of hurricane Maria, Macy’s volunteers from our Ponce, Puerto Rico store, South Florida District Facilities team & the Corporate Giving team, along with Reading is Fundamental, repainted a school library, bought & assembled new furniture & donated more than 4,000 books plus dozens of brand-new computers. In total, Macy’s funding provided over $93,000 in new library & school supplies. Our Chairman & CEO, Jeff Gennette, attended the library opening & presented a $40,000 corporate grant for Escuela Llanos del Sur, Juan Domingo En Accion & Centro San Francisco, Inc.
