It’s finally time to deck the halls in preparation for Christmas, and we know the perfect place to find everything you need for decoration and celebration—it’s Macy’s, of course! We carry everything you’ll need like Christmas trees. Discover our assortment of Christmas ornaments. Plus, we have Christmas decor that will help set your home up for this holly-jolly season with just one stop.
Speaking of festive, there’s nothing as heart-warming as seeing a row of stockings. If you’re looking for new Christmas stockings or need some ideas about how to work them into your holiday decorating plan, keep reading.
Hang Them By The Fireplace
With working fireplaces, it’s important to hang the stockings far enough away so that no sparks from the crackling embers can reach them.
Likewise, if the stockings warm up from being close to the fire, it would be better not to stuff them with trinkets or candies. Those can melt and make a mess, ruining the stockings, the stuffers and your holiday experience.
No Fireplace, No Problem
You can still decorate with Christmas stockings even if you don’t have a fireplace in your home—any mantle will do.
If you want to stuff them, you’ll need weighted stocking holders to keep stockings in place once they’re full of goodies. Macy’s carries a range of stocking holders, from country-chic snowmen to styles toppedwith light-up snowflakes and elegant marble reindeer.
For apartment-dwellers or those who don’t have mantles at home, these decorative stocking holders can secure stockings on a bookcase or down the side of the stairs.
It’s also possible to hang Christmas stockings directly from a curtain rod or bedpost and skip the stocking holders altogether. However, keep them light on the filling and stuffers so they don’t warp your curtain rods or mark up the bedpost by accident.
