Lip Balm Lip Moisturizer
Read my lips: The best way to keep your kisser perfectly smooth and soft is to start with a great care routine. And that care always begins with the right products, from moisturizers and a lip mask to a nourishing lip balm or hydrating lipstick.
Lip Care to Keep Dryness at Bay
You've probably seen the meme about car lip balms, bedroom lip balms, purse lip balms, and a tube in every other location. It’s funny mainly because this most humble of skin care products is now ubiquitous. It’s the most essential, too. If you do nothing else, a rich lip balm will go a long way toward keeping that silky-smooth look. Look for ingredients such as beeswax, shea butter and natural plant oils. Petroleum jelly also is a great hydrating ingredient.
If despite your best efforts, your lips still are dry and flaky, using an exfoliating lip treatment a couple of times a week at bedtime can help. A sugar scrub is perfect for this. Using a lip mask several times a week can also help cut down on the need for constant lip balm, particularly if the mask contains collagen.
Sometimes, though, you'll still need a regular lip moisturizer. A maximizing serum can help deliver day-long hydration, which means you'll no longer have to worry if your car lip balm accidentally migrates to the bathroom.
Lip Moisturizing and Added Color
These days, with more attention paid to proper skin care, even lip gloss or lipstick can double as a lip moisturizer. Many popular brands offer added hydration as well as plumping ingredients. You can choose a tint from subtle to bold, a classic clear lip gloss or a luminescent lip polish that adds shimmer and shine.
Whether you’re using gloss or lipstick, start with a lip liner. Choose a shade a little darker or lighter than your lipstick or gloss or, even better, a neutral color that matches your skin tone. It will help your lipstick or lip gloss glide on smoothly and curb feathering and fading.
