A Hard Day for a Hangover- A Novel by Darynda Jones
A Library Reads Pick The blockbuster conclusion to the bestselling Sunshine Vicram trilogy "Laugh-out-loud funny, intensely suspenseful, page-turning fun." -New York Times bestselling author Allison Brennan Some people greet the day with open arms. Sheriff Sunshine Vicram would rather give it a hearty shove and get back into bed, because there's just too much going on right now. There's a series of women going missing, and Sunny feels powerless to stop it. There's her persistent and awesomely-rebellious daughter Auri, who's out to singlehandedly become Del Sol's youngest and fiercest investigator. And then there's drama with Levi Ravinder-the guy she's loved and lusted after for years. The guy who might just be her one and only. The guy who comes from a family of disingenuous vipers looking to oust him-and Sunshine-for good. Like we said, the new day can take a hike. Compulsively readable, laugh-out-loud funny, and brimming with big-hearted characters, A Hard Day for a Hangover will have readers cheering to the very last page. "Fans will be delighted." -Publishers Weekly.

Fantastic Book!...Fantastic Series!
I had read "A Bad Day for Sunshine" and was HOOKED! I read the second Sunshine Vicram book, "A Good Day for Chardonnay: A Novel" and also enjoyed it. This one, "A Hard Day for a Hangover" was FANTASTIC! I love the characters Sunshine, her daughter, Auri, and the love of her life, Levi! The story had me laughing, crying, wanting more. This series is an excellent series! If you want to read a fun mystery series, I HIGHLY recommend this one. Thank you, Darynda Jones. Love your writing!

Lighthearted, quirky, and highly entertaining!
A Hard Day for a Hangover is a playful, engaging, suspenseful tale that takes us back to Del Sol, New Mexico, one last time and into the life of Sunshine Vicram, police chief extraordinaire, as she once again has her hands full with robberies, assaults, murders, an escaped convict, a town flasher, a pregnant racoon, a daughter indulging in first love, and a childhood sweetheart she may finally get to settle down with. The writing is witty and sweet. The characters are sharp, supportive, and endearing. And the plot is an enticing mix of friendship, family, danger, drama, tension, attraction, community, intrigue, violence, spirited mishaps, romance, and a little heat. Overall, A Hard Day for a Hangover is the third and final story in the Sunshine Vicram series, and even though it’s more than a little bittersweet to say goodbye to this amazing gang of characters I’ve come to know and love over these past three novels, it is nevertheless a superb ending to a fabulous series that I highly recommend and will undoubtedly miss.

Hard Day for a Hangover
This is the 24th book and third Darynda Jones series that I have read. Suffice it to say, I am a Darynda Jones fangirl. Jones is a master at creating bad@$$, smart, savvy, snarky and absolutely hilarious female leads. While she has mastered the urban-fantasy genre with her two previous series (Charley Davidson and Betwixt & Between), with Sunshine Vicram she has ventured into the murder mystery/crime thriller genre. And it’s a hit!!! The book summary is more of a bullet list of storylines, not much meat. The book starts out a few days after the end of the previous book. This book is not a standalone either. You MUST read the first two books in order to understand the characters and storylines of this book. The primary storyline is the investigation of the missing and assaulted girls. Then there is the storyline of an escaped convict, that Sunshine requested to be transferred and since it’s a Ravinder brother, the FBI suspect Sunny is an accomplice. Then there is the storyline of Levi Ravinder (not the escaped convict) and Sunny and their daughter. Lastly, and by no means least, there is the investigation of the local serial flasher getting stabbed in the neck by a knitting needle. Needless to say, Sunny has a lot going on. In the second half of the story, some of the storylines begin to merge, revealing some long-held secrets and some tragic twists. The end gets very scary for Sunny and her daughter as well as a busload of students. There are some nail-biting scenes that end tragically for some. This was a satisfying end of the trilogy and I’m saddened to see it go. I'm going to miss all of her snarky little quips at the beginning of every chapter. However, I have no doubt that Jones is already working on her next series. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. I want to thank NetGalley and St Martins Press for sending me this eARC. @NetGalley @St Martins Press @HardDayForAHangover

It's A Sunshine Day
"Now if you'll excuse me, tonight's bad decision isn't going to make itself." - T-Shirt I love this book and series so hard! Sunshine Vicram is fabulous with her wit and sarcasm. Her daughter, Auri, adds so much life and levity and teenage angst. And then there's the guy Sunny's pinning over, Levi, who seems completely swoon-worthy. The mystery and overall storyline are icing on the laugh-out-loud, rollicking good time, cake. Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

Book 3 Does Not Disappoint!
The third (and sadly, final) book in this series wraps up perfectly for Sunshine Vicram. Even if she is suffering from a hangover. Her days are still crazy in the town of Del Sol, NM with flashers, and knitting needles, and more seriously, a series of missing young women. Her coffee addiction hasn't slowed down at all. Neither has her daughter, Auri, who's skipping school with a vengeance to help investigate. Add all that to Sunshine's constant worry regarding her relationship with Levi Ravinder (who's also missing) and she's sworn off alcohol for good. Or at least until she gets home and can have a glass of wine. I have loved every single book in this series. I've loved the snark, the banter, the characters, and Sunshine's huge heart that beats inside a woman who strives for justice, and not just to honour the law. While this may be the end of Sunshine's story...if Darynda Jones would like to fast-forward and write a series about Auri running the FBI, with Cruz alongside, I'll read every word.

Loved it!
Another home run in the Del Sol series. Darynda is fantastic at world building and creating dynamic characters her readers can fall in love with. The suspense had me flying through the pages while witty banter supplied many laugh out loud moments. This is not a stand alone read. If you haven't started this series yet, I highly recommend it. Don't wait another day!

Sunshine is a Winner
Fantastic book. I knew it would be when I began laughing almost immediately. Such a great end to this trilogy but so sad that it's over. Great relationships between the characters and they're were so well defined. Sunshine, Levi, Auri, Quince, Wynn, the ex-Sheriff, every member of the cast within this great end. If you are new to this series, go and get the first two books and enjoy them. You might be able to read it as a stand alone but it won't be the same. There are simply too many nuances that are inter-related and you want to experience them from the earlier books. (I truly wish my TBR list wasn't so long so I could indulge in a re-read and do this series again.) There are some parenting lines that I enjoyed and laughed out loud at causing me to wish for just a moment, that my kids were of teenage years so I could use the line but it was just a quick lapse because the lines were funny. Well done Ms. Jones for writing a great series finale that didn't seem rushed or lame and one that I just couldn't put down without being frustrated at my adult responsibilities. Enjoyed it very much.

Wonderful Book & Audio - Love this Series
I have enjoyed each of the books in this series. However, I believe this book was the best yet! I suspect it was the final one in this series - making it a trilogy. If that's the case, then it was a wonderful one to finish up with. Of course, if Ms. Jones decided to write another one to carry on the storyline, I'd read it just to see what else these characters have to say. This series its fun, snarky and chock full of mystery with a touch of romance to balance it all out. It's the perfect combination and exactly what I need sometimes. Sunshine is the sheriff of a small town in New Mexico, the mother of a teenage daughter and a woman carrying an unrequited love for a man named Levi. Sounds pretty basic, right? Nope. There is so much more blended into this storyline that complicates everything. The author always does a nice job of balancing multiple storylines at the same time. You have a mystery that Sunshine (the sheriff) is trying to solve. Yet you also have personal storylines entwined with it. Everything just seems to flow easily and keeps the reader involved. AUDIOBOOK: In addition, I also listened to the audiobook and it was superb. I love the way the narration is done and it makes the characters in this series really come to life for me. 5 stars Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC and ALC. I voluntarily chose to read/listen and review them and the opinions contained within are my own.
