wow! I'm seriously impressed!
I needed a slimmer fitting suit so I decided to give this a shot. I'm 5'7, 170lb, and very athletic (large quads). needless to say I was nervous about the comfort and fitting. I ordered the 38s for the jacket and and 32x30 for the pants. guess what..NO ALTERATIONS NEEDED. this suit fits and looks ridiculously amazing!
excellent fit
Brought the vest and pants; the jacketless look is very classy and different. I'm 5'9 165 lbs and the 32x32 pants an 40R vest fits perfect. Alfani has captured my figure perfectly for little to nothing. I brought the black stripe one as well, waiting for them to come out with a blue vest with lapels. Hint hint Alfani; pin stripe would be nice.
classic color and material
this is reminiscent of a favorite suite that i owned many years ago: a beautiful grey flannel suit, by geoffrey beene. when i saw it, HAD to purchase this alfani. very elegant look, yet slim and modern fit. wool material is beautiful, with elegant shine and feel. i have read reviews describing issues with high and low armholes, but for me the fit is excellent. be mindful, however, that modern, slim fit suits are not going to fit like the larger cut of traditional suits with pleated pants. as mentioned in my other review, i had to go up in waist size: from my usual 32X 30 to a better fitting 33 X 30 pant. (jacket fits my usual 42R size). i like the formal, elegant look of this suit, coupled with its more modern fit. essentially, if you are trying to build a versatile wardrobe with your suits, this needs to be in your closet! this is my 2nd Alfani Red, and frankly, i'm not sure if the navy or grey is my favorite!!
Perfect Gray, Peak Lapels
This is a fantastic suit. Slim fit is trim but not tight, and the medium gray color is a perfect shade -- not as dark as charcol, nor as light as light-gray. This allows it to pair with a wide variety of shirts/ties/shoes. The peak lapels are also great! They really help give you that "upside-down-triangle" torso that is so flattering. If you take the time to find the perfect size for yourself, people will think you have a custom suit.

Quite impressed
This was my first successful purchase of an American off the rack suit (I am European and wear either Italian brands or have my suits tailored), and I must admit that I am quite impressed, despite of a few shortcomings. The material is very soft and has very discrete shine under the appropriate light although it is not a silk or poly mixture. I find that as a rather nice touch. It is appropriate for all seasons. This is a classical slim fit, and not one of those tight suits that you can barely button up with the pants resembling to leggins. This cut will still be acceptable long after this novel ridiculousness goes into desuetude. It, however, has its faults. First, the shoulders might not drop perfectly, which is a major problem if you don't have an outstanding tailor. This, however, is very individual problem (I have rather wide shoulders and slim body). Another issue is very low armholes, which is somewhat normal for the off the rack suits, but Alfani might have pushed it a bit too far. This is, again, an issue that an exceptional tailor could sort out, if you have such an attention to detail. The fact is that, with minimum alterations, this can look as a $1000 suit easily (great if you have time constraints and geographical problems and need a good new suit fast). I cannot say that I will stop with my practice of having bespoke suits done for me, but this is very good fix when you are out of choice (in my opinion much better than cK, TT or Laurens that I had to return).
Not bad at all
I was unsure how this would fit so I ordered both a 40 and a 42. I'm usually a 40 but in this a 41 would've been perfect for the coat as the 42 seemed slightly too big. The 40 was snug and maybe would've worked if it weren't for the excess padding in the shoulders, it looked funny. Still the cut of the jacket is slimming even going up in size. The vest I got in a 40 and love how it looks. As for the pants, they're not as slim as the look in the picture which works for me since I have more athletic thighs anyway but they definately don't look baggy. I'm pleased with this purchase overall for its versatility since I can wear pieces both together and individually, and also for its value.
Great Suit
Slim fit with great feel and style. Hold up well for those of us that wear suits on a daily basis. Quality material and excellent variety of color..highly recommend vest with purchase.
