it's a great way to start out making fresh pasta. I see a lot of bad reviews on here. But I have no problem with the crank or the fastener. Is it the best pasta crank on the market? Probably not. But it has made plenty of pasta dishes for me. The dough is the most important part, so I've discovered. Can't be too dry, can't be to moist that it's sticky either. Semolina works best for me. You must kneed it for a good 8-10 mins. Cut into quarters. Do one quarter at a time. Keep the other quarters wrapped in a towel while you are working on the one in the crank. After doing it a few times you'll get your own rhythm down.
Disappointed with this pasta machine. I would give it zero stars if I could because it does not roll or cut pasta dough. I do not recommend this product. I will be returning it this weekend.
I've seen many poor reviews on this product from other sites. I have to inform you...this is a great product. Most of the negative reviews are from people who used number one setting to make angel hair. Tip: if you find that your pasta is stuck together, but not smooshed together, use your pasta utensil or a fork to shake the pasta loose as soon as it hits the water -- it happens every time thin the dough down to the number one setting, and the aforementioned works like a charm.
You can buy this same exact product elsewhere for a lot cheaper. Regular price is only 39.99
I'm really disappointed in this pasta maker. I didn't have issues with the clamp, that worked well, and the roller was fine, but the pasta cutter was awful. It would not cut the spaghetti consistently. Maybe 1/2 the sheet of pasta would be cut properly and the other half just had lines of where it should have been cut but was still sticking together. This made for very lumpy pasta or was very time consuming for me to pull the pasta apart or recut by hand. If you have a kitchen aid, just spend the money for that and don't waste a dollar on this. My Roomate had the kitchen aid pasta attachment and it cut pasta beautifully. This product is a hassle and inefficient.
This hand crank works well in rolling out pasta dough, but it didn't really fit on our counter because we only have a 2" bullnose edge and the wingnut to tighten the clamp kept hitting my cupboards. I think you would need a 4" lip over your cupboards to properly use this and to only have a flat edge because the clamp isn't that deep. I agree with another review that the clamp could be wider/longer as the base was not fully on our counter due to our bullnose edge. Because it didn't fit on our countertop, we had to use the bar top, which made it at an uncomfortable height to use the crank unless you were standing on a stool. Sadly, I'm returning it because it just isn't fitting to how I need. I really wanted to like this product.
The angle support is not good to hold on the table. This should be longer and bigger.
It does the job beautifully. Cleaning is a bit of a hassle, wish I could open everything up and clean properly.
