Kids pajamas always run smaller than expected

No matter the brand, for unknown reasons, kids pajamas always run small. Ordered the 10/12 expecting them to be too big for my 8 year old son and they are exactly his size. I was hoping he'd be able to grow into them but unfortunately, he'll be growing out of them first. I would still buy again but sized up.
