My husband and I chose this Denby line for our first dish set and we love them. It's great being able to stick the dishes in the oven or the microwave or even the freezer. They are durable, not too heavy, attractively simple. The color is so pretty too. The pasta bowls are especially versatile because they can be used for pasta or anything you don't particularly want running all over a plate.
In the past I've purchased stoneware that would chip, break, and crack from the slightest tap. I recently purchased Denby because I got a sense of quality from just holding it. It was a little pricey but when I figure how many different sets of everyday dinnerware I've owned this is worth every penny. And the first time I tapped it, accidentally, against the granite countertop putting it into the dishwasher I cringed! Then, on close examination much to my surprise it was in tact! Yeahhh Denby! I love the weight of it, the feel of it (no more of that gritty stoneware feeling that sets your teeth on edge), the colors. Now my daughter wants a set.
I am a new owner of Denby Stoneware. I have owned other brands of stoneware dishes that were thought of as my "first" love. However, I have finally discovered the love of my life "DENBY". Future serving and cooking encounters are sure to involve DENBY at my home. I am speaking of quality like non other known. Denby breaks the mold on craftmanship. This line of stoneware offers everything that I personally need in tableware along with cookware to accent any table and event. I do not presently own any Denby stemware accents but stemware is certainly on my list of items to purchase in the near future. Adding another Denby item is topping the chart on my 2008 Christmas wish list. Denby has received RAVE review in my kitchen. I have found quality that I can trust. I have also discovered durablity that I can count on years to come. Denby products have been around for a long time. I pray they never go away. With Denby, I have also discovered diversity. I enjoy the fact that most of my Denby dishes can be used with varied option. I use my table ware in preparation of eating, serving, microwaving, conventional oven and are also dishwasher safe. I can now keep food warm in the original plate until the food consumed. I can also place my dishes in the freezer at ease. I really enjoy not having to worry if they will be damaged upon or after use. Denby pieces are so well crafted. They are tested and tried before they reach the consumer. After years of careful use, Previous brands and patterns have failed the test of long term ware and tear and optional use. My previous brands have chipped and/or cracked...or just not stood the test of time. Not true with Denby. I trust that Denby colors will not fade out or become worn looking. I can pass this heirloom down to the next generation if they are so incline to appreciate finer things in life. I can do this with pride knowing that each piece will meet my standard in appearance and craftmanship. I will pass Denby down to other family members with pride. Their love ones will get to experience quality and a family pattern that I am sure will serve them beyond their expectations too. I always thought pinching the penny meant a lot. I am glad that I stepped across the line to challenge a product that is constructed to last. I can also trust the company that produced the product. This company is willing to back their product. The Denby product has a healty little price tag but the product to me is like any good investment...you get what you pay for. I feel that Denby is the way to go once you learn what real quality and craftmanship is all about. I am at ease with use of this product and highly recommend it for use in kitchens across the globe. Think Denby and nothing less! You'll find no need to ever have to prop DENBY up because DENBY stands on its own. Like me, you will forever enjoy using each piece. I can dress my patten up or use it casually for any occasion. You choose the style and Denby does the rest. Denby has made me and my family happy. I ask you to give Denby a try and carefully select your pattern because it will be around for years to come.
These dishes are not only beautiful but sturdy enough for everyday use. I selected this line for my wedding registry and I am happy to say that I hear nothing but compliments from everyone on the color. The green has variations in it that fade from a sage/blue green to a rich green/blue. They will work with any table setting; not only do these plates match a misty gray/blue placemat but they also look fantastic against a white/blue/green striped wave background. The color simply dances. Around each dish is a tan line on the rim and I selected pearl napkin ring holders that just make the tan on the plate pop. I love the craftsman's mug. The silohuette of the mug is beautiful. It is a small touch but it makes the coffee beaker seem plain in comparison. These dishes are safe for anything you can throw at them. I choose them because of their durability. I wanted plates that would last a long time. However I didn't want to choose something based upon durability over fashion. I finally found Regency Green, which I felt combined the good looks and complete microwave/dishwasher/stovetop durability that would last a lifetime. I know that I will be building this collection of dinnerware over the years and I know that it will survive changes in taste and the rough usage of children. This is a must have for any home decor modern or classic. It will always look great. It will always be around. It will always be on my table.
