    It appears they are made from some kind of fiberboard with probably a painted surface. The application of the surface design is not fully explained in the description There is no protective backing; that is the main reason I would not reorder them. Since I only got them today, I'm not sure if there might be other reasons over time. I will only use them on surfaces that I'm not concerned with about scratching. I will not use them on my new marble end table.
