Runs Small Runs Large
    wide at the hips

In person, this dress has more gold sparkles. When worn, the hips are wide and not slim like the photo

Love this dress, but not for tall people and it runs large so size down.

Big in All the Wrong Places
    Jan 13, 2017

This was my first Free People purchase and was a little concerned about sizing. I'd normally wear a M/L depending on the brand, so I decided to be conservative and order the M. (5'7", 165 lbs., 36C). I find it is very big in the waist/chest area. However, the lining underneath is rather short, and I don't think there'd be any way I could size down to a S and still have full coverage for my bum. There is also no way one can wear a proper bra with this dress, as there is lace all in the back that would show any sort of strap. It is also very sheer, despite the lining, and I would not feel comfortable going without anything. I have bra cups that I usually reserve for dresses like these, so a few safety pins later, I'm pleased enough with the result. Despite all this, it is a BEAUTIFUL dress and very well-made. I took a safety pin and pinched the lining at the back about 2", which gave the definition featured in the model photos. I'll probably run a small stitch down this lining with my sewing machine and I'll be good to go. (Note, it does make the back ruffle pop out a bit more, but I don't mind that look at all.) Another option that I tried was belting it at the natural waist. It cheapens the dress a bit by doing that, and as I foresee myself wearing this for more formal events, I probably won't do that with it regularly. Lesson learned - Free People really does run big. Don't be afraid to size down 1-2 sizes with this one, especially, and maybe consider getting a little creative!

    Alright but not fully satisfied

I ordered this dress in black and am completely obsessed with FP. This dress however seems to be hemmed differently making it look like you have no curves. Not sure if I will be keeping it but I bought it on sale and can't complain about the price.

Lovely Dress, but runs very large!

This is a beautiful, feminine dress. It appears to be well-constructed and is lined, so it has good coverage. However, I usually fit a size Small in Free People clothing, and this dress is at least 2 sizes too large. Highly recommend sizing down!
