From bestselling and award-winning author Andrew Clements, a quirky, imaginative tale about creative thought and the power of words that will have readers inventing their own words. Is Nick Allen a troublemaker? He really just likes to liven things up at school - and he's always had plenty of great ideas. When Nick learns some interesting information about how words are created, suddenly he's got the inspiration for his best plan ever the frindle. Who says a pen has to be called a pen? Why not call it a frindle? Things begin innocently enough as Nick gets his friends to use the new word. Then other people in town start saying frindle. Soon the school is in an uproar, and Nick has become a local hero. His teacher wants Nick to put an end to all this nonsense, but the funny thing is frindle doesn't belong to Nick anymore. The new word is spreading across the country, and there's nothing Nick can do to stop it.

I loved the message and creativity!

This book taught me a lot about being respectful to teachers. And also there’s nothing wrong with having a little fun and believing in your dreams. Nick didn’t realize when he created this pen that everyone would love it and he would become rich we all have a talent and you should always stick to what you

book

This book is good because it is supprising spoiler warning at the end mrs granger was helping nick to spred the word "frindle" a pen as seen in the book cover. The word frindle started when he was walking home with his freinds and was thinking about what had mrs granger said in ELA class. Thats when the word "frindle" started. He has gone through 3 4 and 5 and into 6 with bring some thing with him...

This book was awesome

I liked this book because there are many word wars and because there is a lot going on in the story. Frindle is the type of book where you read it and cannot put it down. The book keeps you entertained with a good story. It started off slow but quickly picked up and kept me wanting to read more. Once Nick and Mrs. Granger started word wars, it got very entertaining. An example of the word wars is Nick and Mrs. Granger have arguments about what word to use for example, pen or Frindle. Mrs. Granger loved dictionaries and felt a pen was a pen and not a Frindle. Nick found the dictionary boring and wanted to replace the word pen with Frindle. Mrs. Chatham, the principal, came to Nick’s house to discuss what Nick was doing wrong in school with his parents. Mrs. Granger acted like a bad guy, but she was really helping Nick work harder. That was very sneaky of her! Nick never knew Mrs. Granger was trying to help him until he got the envelope with her letter. Mrs. Grainger is an old lady who lives on the dark side of town and can make you feel like an ant. When you are in trouble, she looks at someone in a way that they think they are an ant standing up to a giant. Mrs. Granger sounds really mean, but she is not. You have to read it, and you will see. Nick always had a clever idea. Some ideas include: Frindle, making the lunch ladies make better food, and turning his 3rd grade classroom into a tropical island. Nick was very creative and had a wild imagination. Frindle is a very entertaining book that gets better as you go. I highly recommend you read it!

Pretty good

I got it a few months ago and and its really good its about this boy named nick who is makes up a new word. Then gets in a sort of word war with his English teacher who doesn't want words to change. The press get involved and people all over the world start hearing about it, then when nick is in college the word gets added to the dictionary. I think this was a good book the only drawback is that it was a little short.
