I bought this blender around 18 months ago and have used it very sparingly (I tend to use my magic bullet a lot more as the cups are easier to take on the go). Performs very well for making soups, blending ice for margaritas/pina coladas (have to add the liquor and mix first though). Today I noticed that the jug was moving when I would start the blender and instinctively thought something was wrong.... I noticed a rattling in the base so decided to open it up and have a look inside. To my surprise and horror, the motor had completely snapped off its mounts! The rattle I was hearing was one of the mounting screws - both screws had completely sheared off from the plastic stands. Mounting a relatively high torque motor on plastic is not acceptable in my opinion. Scary to think that the motor can fly off inside the housing, causing the unit to fall to the ground... possible risk of electrocution as well. Real shame as I use and have owned a lot of KitchenAid products (stand mixer, electric whisks, food processors) over the years and they have been fantastic. This would be a good blender if it weren't for this major design flaw. Makes me think if I can trust KitchenAid products in the future.

With its variable speeds and functions it meets all needs from crushing ice to chopping fruit and vegetables to puréeing for sauces and smoothies and everything in-between. Mostly easy to clean, one improvement would be to have a removable blade from the canister which would make it even easier to clean.

I received this blender as a gift, I was really excited because I love kitchen aid and have never had an issue. However, I opened and have been using for about 1-2 months and it stopped working. Originally I was thrilled with it because it did a great job. I typically just use it for smoothies.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I asked for this for Christmas because an old blender died and I needed a good one for blending vegan sauces. So far it has lived up to claims. I like that the bottom doesn't come off because that's where the old blender leaked. The only negative is that I have to constantly stop to push food down to the blades.
