I've always wanted a cast-iron pot for years but I could never afford Le Creuset. I started researching on macys.com for cast-iron pots, and I found this one. It was affordable and was the perfect size and shape for me. However, I read the reviews that were on the site, and the people who bought it complained about chipping, the short-lasting enamel coating, fading paint, and the lid not fitting on the pot. So, with mixed feelings, I went to the store to see the pot first-hand. When I saw it, it was the perfect color and size. The store clerk helped me open a brand-new box to examine the pot for any defects, but it was perfect. It was love at first sight. And I took it home with me. For the past several months, I've been using the pot almost every week. I make soup, pot roast, spare-ribs, pork chops, chili, and Korean stews. The food comes out juicy and delicious. I haven't had any of the issues listed in the other reviews, such as chipping, paint fading, or losing the enamel coating. I love it, and I'll use it forever!
This pot performs as it should. It's a pot. It's good. It works well. You put food in it and cook it. It might chip around the edges ...it's porcelain over cast iron - thats what happens. If it does chip, don't worry about it, that just shows that you use it. Mine has a small chip near the rim that was there when I bought it. I didn't care then & I don't care now. It's a quality product that I enjoy using.
the pot came in perfect new condition, but the quality is not ok at all.....the lid doesn't fit the pot.....what a sham, I always think that martha stewat stuff suppose to be good quality, but the pot is not even round! have to return it the same day it arrived.
I just bought the 7 qt pot today. Got it home and took it out of the box only to find both the pot and the lid are chipped, a large chip. Not a sign of a quality product. I will be taking it back for a refund and holding off until I can afford a Le Crueset.
I really wanted a cast iron dutch oven but didn't want to invest in Le Creuset, so this seemed like a great option. As far as looks, how it works and so on, it's great. HOWEVER, the first time I used it and washed it, several chips of enamel cracked off the handles! I know this doesn't affect how it works, but I worry about handling such a big, heavy item with delicacy now! My advice, it's a great buy, works great, but the price difference just means it's not "finished" quite as well as the higher-priced ones.
I love this pot. It is perfect to go from stove top, oven, to table. It is so versatile and beautiful. I cook chili, soup, pot roast, pasta sauce. meatballs, and stews in this. I loved it so much I bought one for my mother-in-law and she loves it too. It is also affordable and just as good as the other expensive name brand.
This is a wonderful addition to my kitchen! I use it for everything from stews, soups, to risotto and apple pie filling!!!
Took advantage of a sale price and was not disapointed. I love cooking with this pot. I have had not problems with chipping and it is a breeze to clean.
