In response to the previous comment about how hard it can be to clean these pans once food has stuck or burnt on, I found a solution that worked well for me: sprinkle a little baking soda and a dash of salt into the pan to make a very gentle but grease and odor-fighting natural abrasive; scrub with a plastic scrub pad. [This works with any pots or pans.] I did chip one pan by accidentally dropping a knife on the interior, but I don't worry about toxicity as I would with a regular nonstick pan. I LOVE these pans and so clearly do a lot of others - so why are they being closed out? We have no other truly nonstick alternatives.
I bought these pans 2 months ago and loved them in the beginning, that is until I accidently turned the burner to HIGH instead of LOW. My food burned to the bottom of the pan. I scrubbed the pan with only a soft textured scrubber and my finger nails, but the pan was stained. Then, when I tried to cook an egg, it stuck to the pan like an egg without oil sticks to an iron skillet. The nonstick finish does not last. If you buy these pans, ONLY USE THESE PANS ON LOW HEAT, NEVER ON HIGH, OR THE PAN WILL NOT LAST.
I bought the 8'' one. It is small but performs great. It makes eggs golden but never scorches eggs. Very easy to wash.
I am never disappointed in a Martha Stewart product - from kitchenware to towels to bedding. The skillets (the 8" and 12") are a delight to use. I add a little olive oil, as I do with any skillet. My egg white omelets slide right out. Follow the care instructions and you will be very pleased with the performance - no metal utensils - sponge to clean and I hand wash.
I had been looking for a safe alternative to non-stick cookware and am so pleased with this line that I purchased pieces for my Mom and grown children to use in their homes. The cookware exhibits even heating throughout, cooks well with a lower burner temperature and cleans up with little or no effort. The safety of the ceramic based cooking surface is a compelling reason to purchase cookware that I believe is a great value for the price. It is a pleasure to have discarded our other non-stick pans and replaced them with these!
At first we didn't need any oil at all and fried eggs slid right out. After repeated usage, the surface is not as slick as new but still with a little nudge the eggs still slide out. I am now using a couple drops of oil and that helps. Love this pan and feel healthier not using a Teflon pan, regardless what the reports say. Wish it came with a lid that fit.
I love this new coating and these pans. They heat evenly and dont burn like some pans in this price range. Food slides right out, even if its burned. We have the whole set now. I hope they continue to expand this collection.
My old "lifetime" guarantee anonized non-sticks were going bad, so I started replacing them with a wok-sized EcoCook Fry Pan. I LOVE it. It is completely non-stick and effortless to wash. I've already bought a small fry pan and intend to buy them all!
