[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Nioxin System 6 from Influenster for my honest review. Because of my very specific hair type (which is pretty long coming to the middle of my back, thin but I have a lot of it, and it is extremely dry yet healthy overall) the Conditioner and Scalp Treatment just didn't work for me, but I think they could be great for many other people as I stated in my reviews of both. On the other hand I really love this Shampoo! It has a great consistency that is thick but not too much so (there is nothing worse than a runny shampoo that barely stays in your hand as you pour it out of the bottle and try to get it on your head), it suds up well, and makes it feel really clean without stripping it. Because of my hair type I have to be really particular about the shampoo I use to make sure it can really clean it and my scalp when I do wash it, which is once a week or less, without stripping it or drying it out. I found this does all of that while making my scalp feel amazing and not leaving behind any weird residue like some treatment type shampoos tend to do. I also felt like my hair felt really good after using this, even before I put conditioner in, and that is a good sign of a quality shampoo. I know when my hair feels almost like straw after I shampoo, and it soaks up my conditioner before I have even had a chance to work it into the stands, that I have made a very bad decision. I'm glad that this was not one of those shampoos, lol. In addition, my hair feels healthier and fuller after using it for a bit.
I ended up passing along the whole system to my mom for her to try because I felt she was a much better candidate to really see if the full system really works, and give a more accurate review. For reference she has short hair that is slightly thinning (I can't tell when looking at her but she can definitely feel it), that is not dry or oily. She washes her hair almost every day and she absolutely loves this shampoo as well as the other products. She agrees with everything I said above. The biggest difference in our reviews was how we felt about the other two products because of our very different hair types. But if I had not passed this on to her, I would have happily finished the bottle and I will definitely consider purchasing this in the future once I work through my back stock of products I have already on hand.
I will say the only possible negative about this product could be the scent. It has a mild minty scent that I believe is caused by the ingredients that actually help in the stimulating of hair growth and making the hair thicker (the conditioner and scalp treatment also have this scent, and I found it to be too much in the conditioner but even more mild in the scalp treatment. While my mom had no issues with any of them). I personally enjoyed it in this shampoo as it made it feel like I was getting a bit of a scalp treatment while working it in, but I know some people can be extremely sensitive to certain scents or even allergic to mint. But I can't take a star off for that because it's a personal preference thing and I already ragged on the other two products because of my own personal preferences, lol. Also, given it's part of the ingredients that help this product do what it's supposed to, those who can't use it will just have to find something else that works for them. Just like I can't use skincare products that have ingredients that are derived for coconut oil, not every hair product can possibly be made for every single person to be able to use. We are all too individually unique for that, and we just have to find what works best for each of us and our needs and preferences.
