I had won this book awhile ago from Goodreads Giveaway. This held my interest and helped me get out of a reading slump. I really enjoyed it but think it could have been cut a little shorter. However I was completely shocked towards the end. I would read more from this author.

Mesmerizing, truly spectacular
Jones hits a homerun with this exciting love story. The main character is Emily, not to be mistaken by Em or Emma but just Emily. Robust is one word that describes the beginning as instantly the reader is caught up in Emily's life and surroundings. A chance meeting while at a work seminar brings Emily together with her new boyfriend Adam in a whirlwind romance. Emily's longtime friend Seb is a critical piece of the triangle as he is very important to Emily and her life. It will be interesting to see how Adam continues to accept this friend in Emily's life. Jealous? Quite possibly. Peppa, her flat mate is also part of her story, and another critical ally should this be a need in The Other Woman. Who says there can't be more than one "other" woman. Jones writes exquisitely and the characters bounce of the pages in a roller coaster relationship ride between Emily and Adam.

Started out okay, but just dragged on
*Possible spoilers* Nothing specific, but just in case. The premise of this book sounded good, and it did start out okay, with some suspense and some mystery of, is the guy's mom really that bad, in the first half, but the second half was just bad. The main character kept narrating that she was a strong woman but her actions didn't prove it. I guess I should have known when it started with her berating a man for looking at her chest area in public and then minutes later describing herself as "mentally undressing" another man simply because he was good looking. Ok for women but not for men. But it at least demonstrated her assertion that she was strong enough to stand up for herself, but that ended up being the only time she did. While I didn't MIND her character (I didn't hate her), she just came off as too weak for me to really like her. I also have no idea why she loved Adam so much, the relationship was barely developed. I seriously didn't believe that she was in love with him enough to go head-to-head with his stupid mom for, what was it, a year? And the ending was just so...dumb. Just a disappointment from the middle on. I'm hoping the author's other books are better, as I did read somewhere that this was a debut, so maybe the next one will be more enjoyable.

Leaves you guessing!
Emily has finally met the man of her dreams. Adam swoops into her life and the two start up the type of whirlwind romance that Emily has only dreamed of. Everything is going perfectly until Adam decides it's time for Emily to meet his mother. At first, sweet and doting Pammie comes across as loving and kind, the sort of mother that would do anything for her son but as her encounters with Mrs. Banks become more frequent Emily begins to realize that there is something deeply wrong with Pammie. If games are what Pammie wants to play, Emily decides that she won't be on the losing end of this contest for Adam's affection but what Emily uncovers could put a lot more than just her relationship on the line, possibly her life. I finished "The Other Woman" in less than a day. Though the "twist" ending wasn't all that surprising I still enjoyed this page-turner. Add this to your TBR list for a quick, lazy weekend read.

MUST READ!!
I recently joined Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club and I’m so happy that I did. I. Outdoor hardly put this book down. Each page and each chapter kept me guessing. Totally not the “other woman” you’d expect!

Lots of suspense and twists!
Sandie Jones delivers a nail-biter of an intense thriller with this book. Emily and Adam meet and fall in love and begin making plans to build a life together. Emily believes life with Adam is perfect except for Adam’s mother, Pammie. On the surface, Pammie comes across as a loving mother who would do anything for her children, but underneath the smiles and words, Emily believes Pammie is manipulative and is out to destroy her relationship with Adam, determined to break them up. The great thing about this book is how realistic it is. So many women can relate to this scenario. Meeting the man of your dreams only to discover his mother is a hateful witch can really put a damper on things, ultimately can destroy the relationship if Mr. Wonderful is put in a position of having to choose his mother or his love. For some women, no woman will ever be good enough for their son and they will pull out all the stops to do what they have to do to ensure their son sees that. This was a fast paced story and I could not put this story down. I fluctuated between pity and animosity for Pammie. She initially comes across as weak and helpless, using a multitude of excuses to summon Adam to her side and Adam seems unable to see that and is more than willing to drop what he is doing and immediately rush to her beck and call. Of course, Emily can see it very clearly and though she initially accommodates Pammie and tries to be empathetic, it soon wears thin as she sees a side of Pammie Adam does not. I repeatedly asked myself why Emily would stay in this relationship and why she would want to be committed to a man who does not appear to have a spine and who is unwilling to rectify the situation. The heart wants what the heart wants and most women in this situation hold on, hoping things will change, get better. In Emily’s case, things do not get better and Emily finds herself backed against the wall with some major decisions to make. I thought the characters were very realistic and well-developed but still surprised me. Every time I thought I had Pammie figured out, she says or does something that left me scratching my head, trying to understand what she is up to. I liked Emily though she seems very naive through most of the book; she is a lot stronger than she lets on. I liked Adam in the beginning but I got frustrated that he appeared to enjoy the conflict between Emily and his mother. There are some major and very exciting twists in this story that I did not see coming and was not expecting at all. It ripped the rug right out from under me but kept me engaged in the story. The climactic ending brings closure and a lot of jaw-dropping shock and surprise. My Final Verdict: This book was an “ear-read” for me from Audible and listening to it added to the suspense. Readers who prefer listening to their books will enjoy this story. I highly recommend it to all readers looking for a story that will shock and surprise them, in print or in audio.

Great read- like the twist!
I’ve read many books that are not convincing in their characters or storyline. This book hit well on both points! There were no loose ends to tie up. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Intriguing & Fast Moving
Very good book - intriguing and fast moving. Even though I pretty much had it figured out about halfway through, I still never tired of reading it and finding out the truth for sure. I will read more by this author.
