I recently ordered a set of 6 dinner plates, salad plates, and cereal bowls to replace my old dinnerware set. I was looking for something contemporary and nice. Upon receiving the dinner plates, I noticed there were paint marks on the light edges surrounding the dinner plates and slight discoloration between the dinner plates themselves. I thought to myself, "no big deal." The salad plates and cereal bowls arrived a few days later in a separate shipment. Upon opening the box and taking the salad plates and cereal bowls out, I noticed there was a great difference in color between the dinner plates I previously received. Although the cereal bowls and salad plates clearly said graphite on the sticker, they were not even closer; the color was a dark glossy brown. I immediately contacted Macy's concerning this quality issue and a new shipment will be sent out. Prior to purchasing these, I did read the reviews regarding this problem, but thought perhaps Macy's corrected this issue. That's not the case. I would suggest to pick a different brand due to the lack of quality and attention. These dinnerware items are expensive. For the items to come as they did is not worth it.
Pros - I love the matte texture which is very difficult to find in dinnerware. The dinnerware design is indeed elegant and the graphite color smart. I like the weight of the dinner and salad plates, its just right. The shape of the cereal bowls is just what I was looking for and likewise difficult to find. Cons- I sent the bowls back because they were far too heavy and huge. Like a similar reviewer, I got a brown salad plate in with the graphite ones I ordered. While Macy's replaced it at no charge with a graphite one, they did charge me shipping for something that was obviously their mistake. The other major problem is that the plates chipped almost right away. They are suppose to be dishwasher and microwave safe, but the plates crack and chip so easily I am reluctant to put them in the microwave as they get really hot. The dinner plates are too large, I would have preferred them to be a bit smaller. Unfortunately the negatives are such that I can't recommend this product and I am looking for replacements even though I have only had the dinnerware for a few months.
My fiance and I listed these on our wedding registry and received multiple shipments from different guests over a 4 month time span. Now that we are home from the honeymoon, we are finally getting around to opening all of our wedding gifts. We quickly found out that not all of our plates are the same color!!!! When we registered, there were 4 different color options and chose graphite - but in our packages we have brown pieces intermingled with the graphite pieces. They are all labeled "granite" on the box labels, but are definitely not all the same color. There are even some boxes where 3 out of 4 items are granite, and the 4th item is dark brown. I would say that at least 40% of our dishes are in the wrong color. WHAT?!?! Also, these dishes are not as sturdy as I had anticipated. After being home for 2 days and using them 1-2 times, there are already chips in two of our mugs and several plates. This leads me to believe that they will be trashed after a couple years of daily use. I'm taking them back to the store to see what they can do for me, but I'm really frustrated that these things are even an issue.
I have these on my wedding registry, and I just received a 5 piece place setting for my birthday. It is so pretty and elegant. My fiance loves them as well. They are modern and classic. I love the texture, and I love the color. It is a great casual dinnerware. I love all of the accessory pieces too!
My husband and I received service for 12 of this beautiful dish collection. It was received in perfect condition without imperfections or chips as previously reviewed. The dishes are gorgeous, and have continued to look great 9 months into using them. I hand wash all of my dishes, so I couldn't comment on effects of dishwashing. I also do not microwave them because they're like a stoneware, and so get very hot and are more likely to chip when hot. That being said, I use the mugs all the time with near-boiling water for hot tea, and I've never had a problem. My only minor complaint would be that they are fairly susceptible to light scratches from fork/knife marks, though they do clean up well with a little Bon Ami scrub and a soft sponge. I had never used Bon Ami before but it was recommended in the package insert for the dishes and really does a nice job. Overall, my husband and I both love the appearance and the smooth texture of the dishes. I have been complimented multiple times from house guests on this beautiful and unique choice.
My husband and I picked this place setting by Vera Wang for our wedding registry due to the sleek design which worked well with our style. In receiving this casual dinning set, we've been more than just impressed by its looks. The dishes are sturdy and were received with no imperfections. I can't attest to labels washing off due to the dishwasher since I hand wash my dishes. But for us the dishes have been a great gift. We use them daily and love them!
I was fortunate enough to be given a 10-person set of this casual china for my wedding. I think the clean look is beautiful. However, I unfortunately had to exchange about half of the pieces because of poor manufacturing, including chips and uneven edges. I'm still in the process of exchanging because the second (and third) shipments arrived with imperfections. Of those I did keep, the Vera Wang label washed right off in the dishwasher (even though these are dishwasher safe); though the second and third shipments came with a different label which seems to be staying put. I would not recommend these because it has spanned 6 months and I'm still trying to complete a 10 person set, and for their price and the label they carry, they should be produced in a consistently acceptable manner. In fact, if I could start over, I would never choose this china a second time.
