Month
In 1976, the U.S. government introduced Black History Month in conjunction with the nation’s bicentennial to honor the achievements and cultural richness of the African-American community. Today, more than 44.5 million U.S. citizens identify as Black. Join us as we celebrate the gifts, voices and legacy of this diverse population.

Meet Artist Lisa Hunt
History meets minimalism in the work of East Coast artist & designer, Lisa Hunt. Alluding to indigenous African and Eastern textiles, Hunt explores the different relationships of patterns through her graphic shapes, symbols and re-imagined typographic elements— with an added aesthetic of gold leaves.
With her work domestically & internationally commissioned, Hunt has been featured in various venues and bestselling magazines. Macy’s is proud to have exhibited her artwork in the windows of flagship stores, including New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. in celebration of Black History Month 2020.

Black History Month is a special time to celebrate the legacy of those rich contributions and their impact today. We asked Macy’s colleagues to share their views on the legacy they hope to leave at home and in the office.
