Our Beauty Expert’s Guide to It List Copper, Bronze & Cognac Makeup
Each season, the beauty team at Macy’s Fashion Office keeps tabs on every runway look and beauty launch across the globe to spot what’s hot in makeup. And this season, a cool trio of colors stood out from the crowd. Copper, bronze and cognac palettes were so popular that they earned a coveted spot on the Fashion Office’s Spring It List. So, how can you incorporate these glowy shades into your beauty look? We reached out to the most beauty savvy women we know to find out.
“We were inspired by the spring and summer seasons,” says the Macy’s Fashion Office’s Beauty Director Lauren Wilner about her team’s obsession with copper, bronze and cognac beauty—an ideal way to welcome warmer days and sunny skies. “A lot of metallic shades are emerging this season, especially used as a highlighter.” Think: sun-kissed cheeks with a warm, metallic glow.
Another reason the trend is taking off is because these neutral tones flatter every skin tone. Lauren’s pro tip: Copper tends to work best for darker skin shades, while bronze is a better fit for fairer tones.
If you’re looking for a new eye palette to complete your beauty collection, Lauren recommends Tarte’s Tarlette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette for creating a metallic copper eye look. “It’s so versatile,” she says. “You can play with all the various shades to create casual looks or something more dramatic for evening.” The most dramatic way to rock the trend is a smoky eye with a twist of copper, metallic shine.
