Valentine’s Day: We’re Feeling It This Year

Feb 12, 2019

Call us romantic, but we’re really getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit over here. January & February have been pretty dreary so why not spread a little love to the ones you love? It’s not just for couples, you know.

Single, in a relationship, married or unsure, V-Day is a great time to share with everyone. We polled a few gals from our Fashion Office to see what they were up to & to inspire you to do something fun this week!

Q:Who is your Valentine?

My Valentine is actually a Galentine. It’s one of my best friends, Alexandra.

Q:What are you getting them?

I’m getting her the Martha Stewart Collection Dutch Oven with the heart handle because she loves to cook. She’s probably the only person I know who never gets food delivery in NYC!

Q:How are you celebrating with them?

We are going to Nashville for a Galentine’s Day trip! We just discovered how well we travel together over the New Year’s holiday. We went to Nashville for New Years as well, we love it there & now it’s becoming a tradition for us.

Q:Who is your Valentine?

My Valentine is my fiancé! He proposed this past fall so this is a special Valentine’s Day for us. We’re in the midst of wedding planning so I wanted my gift to be heartfelt & meaningful AND be a reminder of slower times since it’s been all florists, bands & menu planning all the time.

Q:What are you getting them?

Ryan proposed upstate in Rhinebeck, so I want my gift to be symbolic of the time we spend there together. We went up almost every weekend this summer to relax, barbecue & play tennis, then, went back for fall weekends when the leaves turned & we could build fires and take afternoon hikes. I wanted my Valentine’s gift to evoke all of those memories when we’re back in NYC.

I’m buying him the J.A. Henckels Steak Knife Set—he’s the ultimate grill master and can make the world’s best steak, a Nike Half Zip that works for running errands around the city & pulls double duty for when we take hikes or go to & from the tennis courts and lastly, the Homesick NY State Candle so our apartment will smell like all the fun memories we’ve had upstate together.

Q:What are you doing with them?

I’m away (on a work trip) for “official” Valentine’s Day so I will be celebrating Galentine’s-style by dining with fellow female colleagues in LA. Ryan & I are going to celebrate over the weekend with none other than a weekend getaway to Rhinebeck!

Q:Who is your Valentine?

My forever Valentine is my Nonnie (my grandmother)! She is one of my favorite people in the world & has inspired so much of what I do today.

Q:What are you getting them?

This year, I want to get her things that remind her of us! My Nonnie swears by eating ice cream out of a crystal glass versus a traditional bowl, she says it “always taste better!” Her ice cream glasses will get an upgrade with something from Villeroy & Boch this Valentine’s Day.She also hooked me on Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, so her classic scent of Chanel No. 5 is on the list, too. Finally, she is one of the reasons I love accessories so much, so something from the fine jewelry department is a MUST—I love the Amethyst and Diamond Ring for her because Amethyst is her birthstone.

Q:What are you doing with them?

Her & I are separated by a few states, but luckily with a short travel distance! If I can make it work, I would LOVE to pack a suitcase & surprise her back in Rhode Island.
