Purchases made at restaurant located within another establishment (e.g., a restaurant inside a hotel, casino, event venue or retail store) may be recognized as purchases at that other establishment, and not ata restaurant, and will not qualify for additional points. American Express determines the industry category for merchants, but Macy’s reserves the right to determine which purchases qualify for 3x points per $1 spent. Gas Stations are defined as stand-alone merchants in the U.S. that primarily sell gasoline. Superstores, supermarkets, convenience stores and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline are not considered gas stations. Supermarkets are defined as standalone merchants in the U.S. primarily selling supermarket products, excluding superstores and warehouses. American Express determines the industry category for merchants, but Macy’s reserves the right to determine which purchases qualify for 2x points per $1 spent.
