6 New Ideas for Bedding:

1.   Luxe Bedding. All about that glitz and glamour life? Us too! Take a walk (and nap) on the sparkly side with luxe bedding. Give your room some style, sparkle and shine with bedding that features fashion-forward faux-fur accents and beaded embellishments. Blend rich colors and patterns with marbled designs and watercolor tones—the perfect luxe color scheme of your dreams. Don’t forget metallics for added sheen. Then balance it out with earthy textures for a luxuriously chic look.

2.   Classic Bedding. Wake up to a timeless beauty…we’re talking about your bedding! You’ll never get tired of the way your bed looks—classic bedding never goes out of style. You can’t go wrong with floral prints, traditional stripes, buffalo checks, or solid neutral tones. These basic bedding beauties are paired perfectly with traditional bedroom furniture sets that you will love for years to come. Finish off your classic bedroom design with home decor or bedroom decor that reflects this lasting style.

3.   Modern Bedding. It’s your new classic with an updated twist—contemporary bed linens in geometric patterns, crisp lines, and solid shades create a fresh feel. Grab bedding sets in clean designs made from the softest fabrics. Bedding style you’ll love to look at and also enjoy many naps in—you’ll wake up on the right side of the bed with these modern bed linens!

4.   Farmhouse Bedding. This isn’t the country-cutesy look of the ’90s, (where everything was roosters, patterns and frill—bleh!) nor is it the rough and tumble farmhouse where your grandparents grew up. The new farmhouse bedding trend incorporates traditional country details with touches of contemporary style. Look for rustic bedding or farmhouse bedding with soft color schemes (we love white bedding), natural materials, hints of fur, textured fabrics and mixtures of primitive, modern or industrial accessories. It’s all about evoking a warm, inviting feeling and we have a feeling you’re really going to like it.

5.   Coastal Bedding. Bring the coast to your covers with this beachy-chic bedding trend. Macy’s is going coastal—you should too! Shades of blue, tranquil tones, rustic textures and a relaxed vibe are exactly what coastal cool is all about. Forget the nautical look you’re used to. Coastal cool creates more of a laid-back, serene setting. It brings to life that peaceful feeling you get listening to waves crash. Who knows, it may even inspire you to book your next seaside getaway…you can never take too many vacations. Go ahead, treat yourself to beautiful coastal cool bedding, (and maybe even a spontaneous vacay) you can thank us later!

6.   Boho Bedding. Are you not tied to any particular style? Don’t fret! Boho bedding allows you to take a DIY approach. You can mix and match your favorite colors and patterns. Whatever looks good together! Add a little bit of this with a little bit of that. You don’t have to worry about everything matching perfectly with boho bedding. Check out eclectic designs and whimsical prints, and put together a bedding set that channels your unique, free-spirited nature. A boho bed isn’t complete without a variety of throw pillows—pile them on in different shapes, colors and textures. You can even add a few pillow shams or euro shams with cool tassel details for a boho look that we’re so into right now!

Time to Explore Green Bedding!

What is green bedding? We’re referring to sustainable textiles and more specifically, eco-friendly bedding. But don’t worry, we love the color green, too! Learn about the three levels of sustainable products offered at Macy’s—we want you to trust our products and feel comfortable bringing them into your home!

OEKO-TEX®. Standing for “Confidence in Textiles,” OEKO-TEX® Association campaigns for enhanced product safety by continually improving on a sustainable production of textiles.

1.   The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
This is the easiest standard to achieve within OEKO-TEX®

  • Not so much a label, but rather a third-party comprehensive certification system for textile products (like bed linens).
  • The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification and testing system ensures the chemicals used for textile products are not harmful or dangerous to human health.
  • It is used at all stages of production. Textile products can only be certified if all components meet the detailed requirements.
  • Test criteria are updated annually and go far beyond existing legal regulations. Bedding that is proven to go above and beyond for you? We’re sold!

2.   MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®.
This is a harder level of testing to achieve than The STANDARD 100.

  • Textiles (such as bedding) labeled with MADE IN GREEN verify that the product was made with materials that are tested for harmful substances. It also verifies products are made in eco-friendly facilities and have safe and socially responsible work practices.
  • Not quite sold? See for yourself. Track your textiles! Each textile produced with the MADE IN GREEN label includes a unique product ID or QR code that allows you to track its production.
  • With this unique product ID or QR code you can see into the various stages of production, discover the countries in which the textiles were manufactured and even trace certification at every stage of production. Now that’s a green label you can rely on!

3.   GOTS Organic Certification.
Separate from the OEKO-TEX® Association, GOTS is the hardest level to achieve within sustainability.

  • The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading production certification process for organic textiles and fibers that inhibits the use of toxic chemicals.
  • This tough organic textile standard includes ecological and social criteria. It provides independent, organic certification throughout the entire textile supply chain.

Does Your Bedding Pass the GOTS Test? For a product to achieve the GOTS organic label it must:

  • Include at least 95% organic fibers
  • Not be treated with toxic chemicals such as bleach or formaldehyde
  • Be colored with nontoxic dyes
  • Be produced in a strict socially responsible and eco-friendly factory that enforces environmental standards and fair treatment of its employees

Good snooze! Your bedding passed the GOTS test with flying (nontoxic) colors…we think it’s time for a celebratory nap.
