How do I exchange merchandise?

If you received an order and would like a different size or color, here’s how exchanges work.

Exchanges in a store

  • Store purchases: Items purchased in a Macy’s store must be exchanged at a store.

  • Online purchases: Items purchased online may be exchanged at a store or returned by mail. If returning by mail, you’ll need to place a new order for the desired item online.

     

Please bring your original receipt when possible. No receipt? We can often look up your purchase using one of the following:

  • The credit card used for purchase
  • Return label or packing slip
  • Order or shipping confirmation email
  • Registry number

Exchanges by mail

  • Only items purchased online can be returned by mail.
  • Mail‑in exchanges are processed as returns, not direct exchanges.
  • Return the item you don’t want by mail (or in store) to receive credit.
  • Start your return by selecting here.
  • Place a new order for the item you want at the current selling price.
