How to Make a Return

Macy’s offers several convenient ways to return eligible items, either in store or by mail, depending on how your purchase was made.

Returns to a Store

  • Items purchased in store must be returned to a Macy’s store.
  • Items purchased online may be returned in store or by mail.
  • Please bring your original receipt whenever possible.

 

No receipt? No problem. We may be able to look up your purchase using one of the following:

  • The credit card used to make the purchase
  • Your order number or shipping confirmation email
  • The shipping label or packing slip
  • A gift registry number

 

Please note:

  • Returns cannot be processed at curbside
  • Furniture items may only be returned at a Furniture Gallery Store

Returns by Mail

  • Star Rewards members receive free return shipping
  • Non‑Star Rewards members will have a $9.99 return shipping fee (plus applicable tax) deducted from their refund. Not a member? Enrollment is free—sign up for Star Rewards here.

Only items purchased online can be returned by mail. Start your return online by selecting Start a return here.

 

Important mailing tips:

  • Include only the items listed on each return label in the corresponding box
  • If you have multiple return labels, use separate boxes and attach the correct label to each package
  • This helps ensure your refund is processed without delays

 

Once your return is received at our return facility, refunds are typically processed within 7 days.

 

Note: A fee may apply for scheduled return pickup in areas where this service is available.

How to Print or Reprint a Return Label

If you’ve submitted your return online, you can print or reprint your return label at any time.

 

Steps to print your return label:

  1. Sign in to your Macy’s profile, or look up your order using your order number
  2. Select My Account from the top‑right menu
  3. Choose Purchase History, then select View All
  4. Select the order number you’d like to return
  5. Select Return
    • To return additional items, choose Add more items to return
  6. Select a reason for return, then click Continue
  7. Review the payment method and click Continue
  8. Choose your return method:
    • Macy’s Store
    • UPS Drop‑Off
    • Label‑Free at the UPS Store (UPS will print the label using your QR code)
  9. Submit your return
  10. Print the return label and return slip
    • Include the return slip inside the package
    • Attach the return label to the outside of the box
  11. Drop off your package at any UPS location

 

Each return label may only be used for one return package.
