Macy's Return Policy

We want you to love your purchase. If you’re not completely satisfied, we gladly accept most returns by mail or in store within 30 days of delivery or purchase, unless otherwise noted.

Return Conditions

To be eligible for return, merchandise must meet the following requirements:

  • Items must be unworn, unaltered, and returned in original packaging with original tags attached
  • Mismatched garments will not be accepted
  • New or gently used cosmetics and fragrances purchased at Macy’s may be returned if they don’t meet your needs
  • Items purchased in store must be returned to a Macy’s store
  • Items purchased online may be returned in store or by initiating a return online
  • Items sold and shipped by Third‑Party Sellers may be returned in store or online
    • We recommend initiating Third‑Party Seller returns online
    • Exception: Furniture and mattresses sold by Third‑Party Sellers must be returned directly to the seller and cannot be returned in store

Free Returns

  • In‑store returns are always free
  • Star Rewards members receive free return shipping
  • Non‑Star Rewards members will have a $9.99 return shipping fee (plus tax, where applicable) deducted from their refund

Gifts & Registry Returns

If you have a gift receipt or registry number, you’ll receive a full refund in the form of store credit using your registry purchase list, original receipt, or proof‑of‑purchase label.

 

Registry return timeframes

Time limits are based on the event date:

  • Purchased before the event date:
    Returns or exchanges (with receipt) accepted up to 90 days after the event date
  • Purchased after the event date:
    Returns or exchanges (with receipt) accepted up to 90 days from the purchase date

 

No receipt and item not on the registry?
A store credit will be issued for the lowest selling price within the last 180 days.

 

Buy One, Get One (BOGO) Returns

 

When an item is purchased as part of a Buy One, Get One (BOGO) promotion, the discount is proportionally applied across all eligible items. Refunds reflect the item’s original price minus the proportional discount.

 

Example scenarios:

 

Buy One, Get One Free

  • Items priced at $30 and $20
  • $20 discount spread proportionally
  • Refunds:
    • $30 item → $18
    • $20 item → $12

 

Buy One, Get One 50% Off

  • Items priced at $30 and $20
  • $10 discount spread proportionally
  • Refunds:
    • $30 item → $24
    • $20 item → $16

Please examine your area rug carefully upon delivery. If your item does not meet your expectations, contact us within 30 days of delivery.

 

Area rugs are eligible for return only if:

  • A valid receipt is provided
  • The rug is unused, undamaged, and in original condition
  • Original packing materials are included for preference‑based returns

  • Returns may be made by mail or at select Macy’s stores with a Rug Gallery Department

Area Rugs Purchased In Store

  • Returns must be made at a Rug Gallery in select Macy’s stores
  • Returns are accepted within 30 days from the receipt date
  • To arrange a pickup for your return, contact: 1‑888‑241‑8288 (TTY: 711Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET
  • Pickup fees may apply

 

Important notes

  • Delivery fees and surcharges are non‑refundable on area rug returns
  • Preference‑based returns must be in original condition and include all packaging materials
Altered or Personalized Merchandise
Altered or personalized merchandise is final sale. Returns, exchanges, and price adjustments are not permitted on these items.

Macy's Backstage

Macy’s Backstage gladly accepts returns or exchanges within 30 days of purchase.

 

To be eligible for return:

  • Merchandise must be unworn, unaltered, and have original tags attached
  • The original receipt is required whenever possible
  • Items may only be returned to a Macy’s Backstage location
  • Refunds are issued to the original form of payment

 

Jewelry & Watches purchased at Macy’s Backstage must be:

  • Returned to the same store where purchased
  • In original packaging, with tags attached

 

All Final Sale merchandise is sold as is. No returns, exchanges, or price adjustments are permitted. Additional details:

  • Merchandise is sold without warranties
  • Macy’s Backstage is not responsible for defects or repairs
  • Some items may be irregular or imperfect
  • The purchaser assumes all risk related to quality and repair costs

 

If you don’t have your original receipt:

  • We may be able to locate your purchase using your account number
  • If no proof of purchase is available, a store credit will be issued for the lowest selling price within the last 90 days
  • A name and address may be required to complete the return for security and reporting purposes
bluemercury Merchandise
bluemercury merchandise can be returned by mail, or to a Macy's store with a bluemercury shop. We are unable to accept merchandise purchased from bluemercury stand-alone stores.
 
 
Designer Merchandise (Sold Exclusively in Stores)

Burberry

  • Returns or exchanges are accepted within 14 days of the original purchase date for regular‑ and sale‑priced items
  • Returns are accepted only at Macy’s Herald Square
  • Items must be unused, unaltered, and in original condition
  • Burberry tags and, where applicable, hygiene seals must be attached
  • The original receipt is required
  • Final sale exclusions:
    • Personalized items
    • Pierced earrings (for hygiene reasons)

 

Louis Vuitton

  • Eligible merchandise may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of the original purchase date
  • The original sales receipt is required
  • Items must be in perfect, sellable condition
  • Personalized and made‑to‑order items are not eligible for return or exchange
  • Fragrance returns
    • Crystal packaging and/or packaging with stickers and adhesive labels must remain sealed, unopened, and untampered
    • Fragrances with customized engraved bottles are final sale
  • Return location note: Merchandise purchased at Macy’s Louis Vuitton may only be returned to Macy’s Roosevelt Field through 12/31/2025.

 

Longchamp

  • Merchandise may be returned within 30 days of the original purchase date
  • Returns are accepted only at Macy’s Herald Square
 
Fine and Bridge Jewelry and All Watches

Returns & Inspection Process

  • Fine and Bridge Jewelry, as well as all watches, may be returned within 30 days of delivery
  • Items must have price tags attached and be returned in original condition
  • All returned jewelry and watches are subject to an inspection process that may take up to 14 business days
  • Refunds will be issued after the inspection is completed and approved

 

Final Sale Items

The following items are not eligible for return or exchange:

  • Special‑order merchandise
  • Items altered for size
Finish Line

Finish Line merchandise purchased from Macy’s may be returned within 30 days of delivery, provided that:

  • Items are unworn
  • Items are in saleable condition
Free Return Exclusions
Free Returns do not apply to lamps, wall art & mirrors, furniture, furniture accessories, beds, or area rugs.
Food Beverages and Live Plants
Food, beverage, and live plant items are final sale. Returns and exchanges are not permitted for these items.
Macy's Gift Cards
Electronic Gift Cards and Physical Gift Cards are final sale. Returns, exchanges, and price adjustments are not permitted for gift card purchases.
 
Items Shipped and Sold by Third Party Sellers

Items sold and shipped by Third‑Party Sellers must be returned directly to the seller within 30 days of delivery.

 

  • Refunds are issued once the seller receives and processes the returned item
  • Free returns can be initiated online through your Purchase History
  • Online returns are processed faster than in‑store returns

Note: Returns for Third‑Party Seller items are not accepted in store unless otherwise stated.

 

Furniture and mattress items sold by Third‑Party Sellers cannot be returned in store and must be shipped directly back to the seller following the return instructions provided.

 

The following items are final sale and not eligible for return or exchange:

  • Plants
  • Live botanicals
  • Food items
  • Grocery items
  • Coffee, tea, and beverages
  • Family planning and lifestyle products
  • Pet food and pet products
Last Act Merchandise
Last Act merchandise is final sale and sold “as is.” Returns, exchanges, and price adjustments are not permitted for Last Act items.
Gourmet Gifts
Gourmet Gifts merchandise is final sale. Returns and exchanges are not permitted for these items.
Gift with Purchase

If you return the qualifying item(s), any bonus or promotional gift received must also be returned.

 

  • Returns submitted without the bonus gift(s) may be:
    • Denied, or
    • Adjusted, with the value of the bonus gift deducted from your refund

 

Please ensure all qualifying items and associated gifts are included to avoid delays or adjustments to your return.

 
LensCrafters at Macy's

Eyewear purchased from LensCrafters at Macy’s may be returned for a full refund or replacement within 30 days of the dispense date.

 

The dispense date is:

  • The date your eyewear arrives at your home (for online orders), or
  • The date you purchase the eyewear in store

 

Important note for online purchases

  • Eyewear purchased online must be returned directly to the vendor by mail
  • Online eyewear purchases cannot be returned to a Macy’s store
 
Lighting

Lighting items returned due to customer preference must be initiated by contacting Customer Care at 1‑800‑289‑6229 within 30 days of delivery. Customer Care is available Monday–Sunday, 8:00 AM–10:00 PM ET.

 

Return requirements

  • Items must be in original condition
  • Original packaging is required
  • Lighting items cannot be returned to Macy’s stores or Furniture Galleries

 

Fees and exclusions

  • Shipping fees and surcharges are non‑refundable
  • A 15% restocking fee will be assessed on eligible returns
Lids Merchandise

Lids merchandise may be returned within 30 days of delivery.

  • Items must be returned directly to the vendor by mail
  • Returns cannot be made at Macy’s stores

 

Please follow the return instructions provided with your order to ensure proper processing.

Macy’s Bridal Salon by Demetrios
All sales are final. Merchandise purchased from Macy’s Bridal Salon by Demetrios is not eligible for return, exchange, or refund.
Maternity

Maternity merchandise may be returned within 30 days of delivery. To be eligible for return:

 

  • Items must be in saleable condition
  • Original tags must be attached
  • Items must not be worn or altered
Pandora Jewelry
All returns and exchanges for Pandora Jewelry must be completed at Pandora Shops located within Macy’s stores that carry Pandora Jewelry. Returns and exchanges cannot be processed at other Macy’s locations or departments.
 
ReBag (pre-owned merchandise)

ReBag pre‑owned merchandise may be returned within 30 days of delivery if you are not satisfied with your purchase.

 

Return requirements:

  • Returns must be mailed directly back to the seller
  • Items must be unaltered, with tags attached
  • All original paperwork, receipt, and packaging must be included

 

Important notes

  • Returns are not accepted in Macy’s stores
  • This policy applies to pre‑owned watches, jewelry, and handbags

Sunglass Hut

If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, Sunglass Hut merchandise may be returned within 30 days of the delivery date.

 

With proof of purchase

  • Items may be returned to a Sunglass Hut inside a Macy’s store
  • Sunglasses must be in original condition and include original packaging
  • You may receive a full refund or an exchange

 

Without proof of purchase

  • You may receive an exchange or store credit
  • Store credit will be issued at the current selling price
  • Sunglasses must be in original condition and include original packaging

  • Returns and exchanges apply only to items sold by Sunglass Hut

 

 
Tech Watches

Tech watches may be returned within 30 days of delivery, provided that:

 

  • Items include original tags and packaging
  • Items are returned in original, saleable condition

 

The following are final sale and not eligible for return or exchange:

  • Special‑order merchandise

The Rug Gallery

Please inspect your rug carefully upon purchase or delivery. If your item does not meet your expectations, you must contact us within 30 days of purchase or delivery.

 

Rugs may be returned only if:

  • A valid receipt is provided
  • The rug is unused and undamaged
  • The item is returned within 30 days

 

Return location

  • Returns or exchanges can be completed only at The Rug Gallery in select Macy’s stores
  • Rugs cannot be returned to other Macy’s departments or locations

 

Delivery fees

  • If you return a rug without selecting a replacement, delivery fees are non‑refundable

 

All Last Act! rugs are final sale and sold “as is.”

  • No returns, exchanges, cancellations, or price adjustments are permitted
  • Last Act! rugs are not eligible for additional service after purchase
  • This policy is displayed on the sales receipt and acknowledged at the time of purchase
 
Toys"R"Us

We want you to love your purchase. If you’re not completely satisfied, most Toys“R”Us merchandise purchased at Macy’s may be returned within 30 days of delivery.
