Poor Quality Scale

I bought this a couple of years ago and only use it maybe twice per year. On my latest trip I was weighing my wife's back and the hook broke off from the scale. It only read 51 lbs, which 1 lb. more than the airlines require. This scale should not have broken at 51 lbs. This is a poor-quality scale. I paid more for this scale thinking that it is Samsonite and should be a quality scale, but it is not.

Scale is pretty accurate. It's just hard to open the battery compartment.
