Too tight doesnt zip

I bought my usual size and a size up and both times the zipper wouldn't zip up despite the dress fitting elsewhere except for the torso and shoulder area. It got stuck in the exact same place so I'm not sure if the cut is too narrow around the torso and chest, but sizing up made no difference. Disappointing because I loved the print.

Red/Black Dress; Black Velvet Sweater

I am extremely happy with both items, although the dress did need alterations. I will continue to shop on-line at Macy's as the quality of both items is superb!
