Good fit and softness, but not as warm as hoped

I generally favor Gold Toe socks, and I find this style to be soft and comfortable. As a person living in an area with cold winters, whose feet often feel cold and who can't wear wool that touches the skin, I had hoped that these were identical to the socks with a similar name and packaging that I bought here last winter, but this style is a little thinner and less warm than last year's. However, I think these are fine for all but the coldest weather.
