I really liked this book. My second read by Emily Henry. I didn't love it until well after the halfway point. That's my reason for 4 stars. Emily Henry will probably be an automatic buy for now without even know what the book is about. I've loved each experience I've had with her.

Didn’t live up to the hype

Review of People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ This was my first Emily Henry book and I have to say - I was a tad disappointed. This one was a friends-to-lovers with the potential for so much more but it was ruined by two adults refusing to use their words. This one was a mix of things I really loved and things that tested my patience. The friendship and slow-burn tension were done so well, and the travel elements made this such a fun, cozy read. I especially appreciated the way the story explored loneliness - even when you’re surrounded by people. The romance didn’t fully work for me, though. The miscommunication felt drawn out, the spice stayed mostly off-page, and the repeated vacation structure started to feel repetitive and stale. By the end I was begging Poppy to figure it out already. Still, a solid read overall and yes, I did watch the movie and yes, I was even more disappointed in that.

Ridiculous Premise, Insipid Dialogue

Well before the halfway point in the book, the “snappy banter” becomes trite and tiresome. The female lead character is like that friend who can be tolerated only in small doses. Really tried to like this book,

Great book 100/100 definitely worth reading

I just bought this book today and I love it I just fell in love with the book and felt poppy and Alex inside the book and let me just say the book is amazing definitely recommend it. The movie is so good definitely recommend it to.

Friends to Lovers fun

[edit] This book was so fun! I love a good friends to lovers story, and Alex and Poppy are amazing! I loved getting the flashbacks of the past summer trips, as well as being on this adventure after several years of avoidance. Opposites can attract, and Poppy and Alex were such a fun couple to follow!

Combo friends to lovers and second chance romance

I binged this friends-to-lovers romance in a day. Poppy and Alex had chemistry, funny banter, and genuine affection. The combination of current timeline and flashbacks teased out their story at a good pace. I enjoyed seeing them take steps toward reconciliation without a lot of miscommunication or secrets. There were valid issues getting in the way of them being together but they steadily worked through their feelings, goals, and baggage—even if that meant two steps forward, one step back.
