Belly has an unforgettable summer in this stunning start to the Summer I Turned Pretty series from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I've Loved Before (now a major motion picture!), Jenny Han. Some summers are just destined to be pretty. Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer-they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Its Alright

After watching the show and being obsessed with how good it was, I was highly upset for how much I disliked the book. I felt more of a connection for the show than the book, the book more like a teen bull drama, but the show had more emotional connections.

Sooooo good

I am speaking for all the books when I wright this review. The book way amazing and kept me flipping the pages. The multiple plots were amazing and always shocked me. Just a heads up... The book only gets BETTER when you watch the show. When I read this book I didn't think that it could get any better but when you watch the show and can visualize where everything was it makes the experience even better. I don't want to get into to much detail in order not to spoil it but one thing I will say is that this book had me going through lots of emotions ranging from my jaw being on the floor to happy and sad crying. BEST BOOK EVER. THIS IS MY FAV BOOK.........

2.75 ⭐

I can absolutely see why The Summer I Turned Pretty is so loved — it’s soft, beachy, nostalgic, and full of that first-love, coming-of-age glow that feels like sunscreen and late-night bonfires. For my 35-year-old self though… it definitely felt very young. The emotions are big (as they should be at that age), the love triangle is dramatic, and everything carries that heightened teenage intensity. I kept wanting a little more depth and complexity in the relationships, but I also had to remind myself, this story isn’t written for me. It’s written for girls in that in-between season of becoming. If I had read this at 15 or 16, I probably would’ve been completely obsessed. As it stands, it was a cute, easy, summery read, just a little too YA for where I am in life. Still charming!
