Barnes & NobleSense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Product details
Web ID: 14789619Two sisters of opposing temperaments who share the pangs of tragic love provide the theme for Jane Austen's dramatically human narrative. Elinor, practical and conventional, is the perfection of sense. Marianne, emotional and sentimental, is the embodiment of sensibility. To each comes the sorrow of unhappy love. Their mutual suffering brings a closer understanding between the two sisters-and true love finally triumphs when sense gives way to sensibility and sensibility gives way to sense. Jane Austen's authentic representation of early-nineteenth-century middle-class provincial life, written with forceful insight and gentle irony, makes her novels the enduring works on the mores and manners of her time. With an Introduction by Margaret Drabbleand an Afterword by Mary Balogh.

Stunning Book - Both Inside & Out
As an English classic, it can be a bit harder to read at times, and of course it reflects social norms that feel very different from today. But if you allow yourself to be transported to the English countryside of the era, the story becomes deeply rewarding. At its heart, the novel follows two sisters,Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, who find themselves with nearly every card stacked against them after their father‘s death. They are complete opposites and temperament – Elinor guided by restraint and reason, Marianne, by emotion and passion – yet their bond never waivers. Through heartbreak, disappointment, and social pressures, they remain fiercely, loyal to one another, always advocating for each other even when the world seems determined to work against them. Jane Austen weaves a story that is both quietly humorous and deeply observant about love, character, and resilience. While the pacing and language require a little patience, the emotional payoff is worth it. In the end, it is a touching tale of sisterhood, growth, and the hope that even after hardship, happiness can still be found. I give Sense & Sensibility 4.5 out of 5 stars ⭐️ For the Chiltern Classic Special Edition: EASILY 5/5 ⭐️ - absolutely STUNNING cover with gold-edged pages. The pages are also very thick and glossy; not easily ripped. I will be getting all the Chiltern classics as I grow my collection.
