Is it ever too late to leave the friend zone? Discover the heartwarming friends to lovers romance that became a sensation on TikToknow with a new chapter and a QandA with the author. The friend zone is not the end zone for Bree Camden, who is helplessly in love with her longtime best friend and extremely hot NFL legend, Nathan Donelson. The only problem is that she can't admit her true feelings, because he clearly sees her as a best friend with no romantic potential, and the last thing Bree wants is to ruin their relationship. But those abs . . . Nope. Nothing but good old-fashioned, no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive, platonic friendship for Bree. In any case, she has other things to worry about. After a car accident ended her chance at becoming a professional ballerina, Bree changed paths and now owns her own dance studio, with big dreams to expand it. But one more rent increase could mean the end of the studio entirely. Then, as usual, Nathan comes to the rescue and buys the entire building. A stubborn Bree is not happy about it and decides to rebel with a couple okay, maybe more than a couple of tequila shots. Then her plan backfires as she spills her deepest, darkest secret to a TMZ reporter. One viral video later, the world thinks Nathan and Bree are the perfect couple.

A Cozy, Feel-good Sports Romance!

I love Sarah Adams, and this book was no exception! ✨️ In typical Sarah Adams style, this was a light and fun rom-com with breezy banter and plenty of laughs. I found myself smiling constantly, the back-and-forth banter and the cozy cuteness of it all made it such an entertaining, feel-good read. Despite their assumptions about one another, Bree and Nathan were super cute together. I loved that Bree was a dancer with a heart of gold—especially to see her navigate a career change and burnout, all while providing opportunities for young dancers to take classes even when they couldn’t afford it. It was super sweet how caring Nathan was towards her throughout the whole book. This was a very quick read that hits a lot of familiar tropes, including best friends to lovers, fake dating antics, forced proximity shenanigans, and witty banter. Since Nathan is a football player, it definitely qualifies as a fun sports romance, though it almost felt like a borderline billionaire romance too with how much he took care of Bree financially! If you’re an audiobook fan, the dual narration featuring Teddy Hamilton was strong and really brought the dual POV to life. If anything, I migjt knock off a half a star only because of the amount of times Bree repeatedly says he’s more of a brother to her and dating him would be like incest (sorry, Game of Thrones scarred me! 😂). But overall, it was a cute, cozy romcom! Perfect if you love: ✨ Friends to Lovers 💛 Sports Romances ❤️ Forced Proximity 💛 Fake Dating ❤️ Mental Health & Anxiety Representation ✨ Dance & Football 🎧 Dual Narration and Dual POV Chapters

Predictable beach read

This was a perfect summer romance beach read. Misunderstandings. Drama. Forced proximity. It's all in there. Enjoy. * I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A few good characters weren't enough to save it

It felt like middle school most of the time. She freaked out when he held her hand, yes, you read that right, HELD HER HAND. It was also like one giant miscommunication trope, because they both had big feelings they never talked to each other about. And everything significant between them happened in the last 43 pages. It's not a big book, but still, it was too much inner monologing about not thinking of each other THAT way. The highlight was Lily, oh MAN I love Lily. Her truth bombs and zingers were everything I was thinking. Also the team mates. Those guys were amazing, and I read in the back where the author said she took inspiration from Ted Lasso and how the guys on the team were with each other on that show to form the football team, and I totally saw it.

Football and Pedicures

I really wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book as I have never been interested in sports romance. I don’t know why but the idea of one or both of the main characters being athletes have never appealed to me. However, upon learning that Teddy Hamilton was one of the narrators of the story, I didn’t seem to care as much because he is a brilliant narrator that brings the characters and the story to life in vivid display. Secondly, it doesn’t take long for the reader to fall for both Bree and Nathan. These two characters are too adorable and the only annoying thing about them is that it took them this long to figure out they are crazy for one another and belong together. Really, how wonderful is it to be in love with your best friend and they feel the same? Of course, you need to communicate that with each other and they communicate it loud and clear to their inner monologues, but it takes them a while to get with the program. However, I forgave them because they are adorable. This is the first book in a series and I’m still on the fence about whether I want to commit to another series. If you saw how many titles I have sitting on my Kindle and iPod, you would totally understand my hesitation. This book is my first by author Sarah Adams. I don’t understand why I haven’t picked up anything by her before as she has a fresh voice and humor that comes through so eloquently. I also loved meeting all the secondary characters and Nathan’s teammates were hysterical. Let’s just say that when I think of pedicures and football players in the same sentence in the future, I will burst out laughing all over again. Additionally, I liked that this story had depth and substance between the characters outside of the bedroom. When done well, the heightened anticipation of what is simmering between the main characters can be much better than just tossing everything out and jumping between the sheets. My Final Verdict: Overall, this is a great story to choose if you are looking for something that will increase your heart rate and tickle your funny bone. I highly recommend it to all readers of the contemporary romance and romantic comedy genres because it gives the reader all the warm fuzzies we look for in this genre. Thank you to the publisher, Dreamscape Media, who provided an advance reader copy via NetGalley.

I'm not sure if Adams is the author for me.

3.5-3.75 rounded up Okay I'm going to go with the 3.5 for sure but keep it rounded up for here. The whole book I was smiling and giggling. Friends to Lovers is very much not my favorite trope, but everyone is talking about this book and I've enjoyed the other Sarah Adams books I read so when Libby had the audio as a skip the line, I jumped. Bree and Nathan's internal monologues had me cracking up and giggling. It's the savior of this story for sure. It was adorable, as I knew it would be. The idea of the Cheat Sheet and the other football players helping him with it was adorable (the discussion and white board scene had me cracking up. But after they got the list together, they kind of never mention it again. It's casually tossed out that "this didn't work" or "this did," but we didn't get to experience Nathan actually making the items happen and what happened (we get a few but not many) and I thought that was the whole point. I was ready to give this a solid 4-4.5 stars for the closed door romance that Adams is known for until the end. The end of the book is so lukewarm at best that it let me down and honestly shifted my entire mood toward the story. I was on board the whole time then returned the book to Libby punching the return button with such force that I'm surprised I didn't crack my screen. I'm not sure if Adams is the author for me. She's a great author with the banter and the quips, but I don't think that's enough to sustain me anymore.

OH MY GOD

This book was so beautiful, cute and funny! It explains panic attacks perfectly, the author was kind enough to even put a trigger warning at the beginning of the book. This book also describes love so beautifully, ive never read something like this before
