A New York Times Bestseller If he had been with me, everything would have been different... Autumn and Finn used to be inseparable. But then something changed. Or they changed. Now, they do their best to ignore each other. Autumn has her boyfriend Jamie, and her close-knit group of friends. And Finn has become that boy at school, the one everyone wants to be around. That still doesn't stop the way Autumn feels every time she and Finn cross paths, and the growing, nagging thought that maybe things could have been different. Maybe they should be together. But come August, things will change forever. And as time passes, Autumn will be forced to confront how else life might have been different if they had never parted ways... Perfect for readers of All the Bright Places, How She Died, How I Lived, and Dear Evan Hansen, If He Had Been with Me is a beautiful, raw portrait of love, regret, and the life-altering impact of the relationships we hold closest to us.

The second book has much more deep emotions.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a good to read. But for me, it didn’t show me emotions throughout the whole reading. It’s overhype but overall, this has friendship, love, childhood, high school, drama, and much more. But if you’re not into these type of stuff then it’s not worth your time to read. I’d prefer the second book. Has more depth than this book. In my opinion.

Wattpadd story turned into a book

I could not tell you how much I despise this book if you can even call it that. Right from the start you can already tell its not gonna be good the writing is pretentious and like an angsty teenager wrote it trying to explain to the world just how different they are. There is no good character development and most of it is filler there are so many lines in this book that just made me wonder why I wasted my money and time on this if your into fanfiction and want a book thats like a physical copy of it but if thats not what your looking for DO NOT GET THIS BOOK. The only reason I give this 2 stars is because torwards the very end it actually got incredibly good but only in the last 15 pages Or so. The only other thing I liked about this was the foreshadowing which wasn't to much or to little and gave me just enough to intrigue to force myself to finish the rest of this book. Buy if you wanna waste time and money.

I don’t understand the hype

The hype around the re-release of this book made me move it up my TBR. The entire time I was listening to it, I kept thinking…why? The chapters were short and choppy. They felt more like diary entries. Overall, it was just ok, but it’s like a movie that is meh all the way to the end and then the ending makes it. If I could only rate the ending, it would be a 5⭐️ read but unfortunately, I was really expecting so much more from this one. I truly don’t understand why there is a second book. My OCD will eventually make me read it but UGH.

Sobbing in the corner

This book is amazing and I don’t care what anyone else says abt it. It’s beautiful and absolutely heartbreaking. Sure it does get a little boring kind of in the middle but you just have to push through it and it’s worth it. That’s the only reason I’m giving it a four instead of a five is cause it was just a bit boring for a minute there. The story of autumn and Finny is heartbreakingly adorable. It starts out innocent enough but by the end it’s like, okay… what the freak did I just read???? It left me thinking about it for days. This was definitely an amazing book and I 100% recommend it. It’s topics are so relatable (at least to me) and it really dug deep. This is definitely one for the ages.

Way too boring

I really tried to give this book a chance due to the description sounding interesting. However, the book was anything but that. First of all, the story itself fell flat to me since it felt like just a typical boring teenage drama series. I had no connection to the main character and had no desire to keep reading to find out more about her or what happened next. Secondly, the setting for every scene (if you could call it that) was constantly changing and was doing so at what felt like a rapid pace. It made it difficult to remember where the characters were half the time. Finally, there just wasn't anything keeping me hooked or invested. Like I said before, it just felt like a boring teenage drama series. Even the writing itself felt childish at times. I made it halfway through chapter eighteen before giving up. Would not recommend.

Left me sobbing in the corner by the end

Quick Opinion 💭: Left me sobbing in the corner by the end Why I Read This 📌: Popular BookTok Recommendation My Summary 📝: What starts off as an emotional love story between two childhood friends drifting apart and confronting what could have been, ends as a devastating, tragic gut-punch you’ll never forget. My Review 💔: I still don’t know why anyone would willingly subject themselves to the heartbreak of this book but somehow, that made me love it even more. I was emotionally wrecked by the end. I wanted to rip the pages out of the book and use them as tissues for my tears. The writing is deceptively simple but incredibly powerful, and the emotional depth Nowlin brings to the characters is what makes the story so unforgettable. It’s the kind of book that devastates you in the best way.
