Priority comfort, style, great functional features

I found this Lands End jacket for my friend who is in a nursing home. He loved his new jacket and wore it the next day for his trip to a dental appointment in the messy rain/snow. It was just the thing for his pared down space that limits what belongings he could bring to his care facility. Features like the 2-way front zipper, water resistant fabric, hood, lightweight down and down-substitute insulation keeps his comfort prioritized. It adds ease to his often frustrating situation.

Stylish and functional winter jacket

I looked around at many jackets before finally finding this one, and I'm glad I did. I've been very particular - wanted a winter jacket that had the warmth of a down jacket and the waterproofing/windproofing of a ski jacket, but without the ski jacket look. I'm also not the biggest fan of the big marshmallow-y puffer look either. This perfectly fit what I wanted and has been great in the cold New England winter this year (daily temps around 0-25 F, with wind chill into the negatives). On single-digit days, I add some sort of fleece mid layer or sweatshirt and have been comfortable. Blocks the wind nicely, great pockets, hood is correctly sized (not huge like ski jackets that need to accommodate helmets), and the jacket doesn't feel too bulky like some other parkas - though it does have some weight to it. I think I would have preferred the zipper to go fully to the bottom of the jacket (ends a couple inches higher), but I've quickly gotten used to that, and there is a button to close the gap and block wind from coming underneath.

Warm and well made

Bought this in early December, nice and warm. No problem with zipper, just note it starts 3” from bottom edge of coat, no big deal. Only improvement would be a way to cinch in the waist a bit.

Excellent Coat for PA Winters

I bought this coat to replace a 12 year old "puffy" down jacket (also LandsEnd). Although it is less bulky, the 600 down is equally warm and the shell adds to its warmth. The zipper takes some getting used to but seems to work well when engaged. I purchased a long for added length in the body and sleeves. I can comfortably fit an extra layer of a fleece jacket underneath on cold windy days when I walk several miles with our dog (also wears a LandsEnd coat!) Overall very satisfied with the quality and value from the sale price!

Tall size lives up to a real tall

Addressing some of the things in the review: The zipper seams fine to me -- it's plastic, but it is in a slightly awkward spot to get started with the fabric flap covering the zipper and bing a few inches from the bottom of the coat. Might just take a few times to get used to it. I don't see the lighthouse logo shown in the pictures on mine anywhere (which is fine and preferred actually, Green Medium Tall). If you're on the smaller side of a Medium Tall this might feel a bit baggy, but if you're on the bigger side of a medium tall it might work well. The inner black cuffs around the wrists are nice too (was hard to notice from the pictures).

Cut large

I bought a medium, my typical size but it felt big. Also it didn’t seem to be as warm and sturdy as my prior Lands End coat. I returned it.
