12000 vs 8000 BTU

This air conditioner was advertised as 12,000 BTU (8,150 BTU SACC). The unit I received is labeled 12,000 BTU ASHRAE and 8,350 BTU SACC, so it actually slightly exceeds the advertised cooling rating. Black Decker registers it as an 8,000-BTU model because it rounds the more realistic SACC rating. The two ratings are based on different testing standards, so the product was not misrepresented regarding BTU capacity. However, the claim that it cools up to 550 square feet may be optimistic, especially in very hot climates. I live in Texas and for a 400 square foot room, the unit runs nearly continuously in the evening. For a smaller room this would be good.

Perfect air conditioner for our needs! Recommend!

This air conditioner was the perfect choice for our garage and our beloved pets! The air conditioner arrived in immaculate condition and the boxing and installation was seamless and the instructions easy to follow. An added bonus included several YouTube videos instructing on setting up for this particular model which can be done in less than 15 minutes. The pricing for this model is unbeatable but don't let the price fool you this air conditioner has 12,000 BTU of power and puts out as much cold air as our $10,000 HVAC unit. Suffice to say it is potent and powerful and quickly cooled our large stuffy garage in no time. That being said we were extremely satisfied with our purchase and therefore would most definitely purchase this high quality item again. Again we reiterate our appreciation for your impeccable service and the fast and efficient way it was handled. It is marvelous!
