Sneakers size difference

I liked the sneakers and ordered it from Macy’s, they did the best efforts to help me to get it. Unfortunately when I got the 7.5 size sneakers it was much bigger than my current sneakers. I had to return it. Not sure why each brand product size has so much difference?
