Too large overall

I love the fabric, quality, and features (style has trench coat flaps to keep you dry.) it's well-constructed and durable. I bought an XL to match my bust size. However, it is too large overall. The armholes gape, coat's shoulders jut out from my natural shoulders, i'd need to shorten it about 6 inches. I'm 5'4" for reference. I prefer it to hit below my knees(just below.) unfortunately, I'd need to try on both a medium and large size. I returned the XL. It's far higher quality than the fashionable trench coats I see in Macy's. I think Lands End should reproportion the whole garment. For example, the width of the sleeves is too wide, overall. So this excellent product is very unflattering.
