Great grind quality, lots of retention & cleaning
I've had the grinder for about 6 months now with some good days and some bad. Pros: the grind quality is superb, it has a pretty sturdy build, very easy to use and produces a pretty consistent amount of grounds if using the time setting and hopper. I wanted to love this grinder and kept hoping it would get better for some illogical reason. Now for the bad.... The second time I used the grinder it clogged completely and took me forever to clean it out; it really gets caked in there! I've used all sorts of beans from local shops and if there is even a small amount of oil on the darker roasts, you're going to have to clean it pretty much every time. RDT and like another reviewer noted using the cap as a bellow both help some and I've even resorted to using the blower end of my mini vacuum to purge the retention. RDT is also essential to keep the area clean as the static makes the grinds spray all over; but the main reason I bought this grinder is so my wife could just push the button and get a reasonable dialed in grid from the hopper. Overall if you're using it for pour over or like lighter roast beans, it's a great machine! I would avoid if you will mainly brew espresso because the constant cleaning and maintenance is very tedious.

Almost perfect
I have been using the encore esp pro daily for almost 3 months with a variety of beans and I am happy with the performance. I only grind for pourover. Areas of improvement would be with retention. If using single dose it helps to use the silicone lid as a bellows towards the end of a grind. This wouldn't be possible with the hopper. I think having a scale built into the base of the grinder would be a big help to see how much of your grind was left behind. I also had a small issue with Pacamara beans, which are larger than normal coffee beans. Sometimes they don't all clear the gas in the antipopcorning guard. Aside from these 2 small things, which are only minor, I love this grinder.

Good but could be better.
I bought this grinder for 2 purposes. (1) Grind espresso and (2) use it to grind oily beans to keep my more expensive grinders free of those oils. Espresso grinding is outstanding but my primary use of grinding for batch brewing is a bit of a hassle. The feeding of the beans into the grinder is hit and miss due to the slow feeder. More often than not, grinding 110 grams of beans for a full batch brew is inconsistent in the terms of the beans getting to the burrs. I have to smack the side of the grinder or close off the bin and stir the beans in order for the full amount to get to the burrs. Other than that, the grind consistency and quality is excellent.

Baratza ESP Pro - Disappointed - Does not function
Purchased in September 2025 and the first night things went bad! First grind worked as expected but the second grind clogged the machine. Using 30g of a medium roast on a fine grind setting of 30. Became an expert the first night on disassembly of the unit. Should have sent it back at that point but figured there was a learning curve. 4 months later still extremely disappointed in the performance. Grinding 30g medium and dark roast coffees on settings of 59.5 and 60 and always stops grinding. Literally have the cover off rotating the beans with my hand to try to get them to grind. Very frustrating! Forget about walking away while grinding, it just won't grind on its on without assistance. Tried spritzing but really didn't help either.

Reliable and Repeatable
I have been using this grinder now for 3+ months now. It started off a little tricky as I really wasn't sure where to start in the espresso range for grinding. The precision grind sizes have been fantastic, especially if your doing ristrettos or lungos and want to play around with flavor profiles. A little bit of a learning curve, but doesn't take long. Also works great for cold brew, drip, and pour overs from the limted times I've used it for those methods.

Amazing Grinder
Love the grinder. I have made hundreds of espressos from this machine thus far and absolutely love it. The build quality is solid, the grinder is definitely quieter than the OGs and it does single serve amazingly. I would buy again

Don't buy, cloggs like crazy.
Clogs almost immediately, single dosing with medium beans 18g. Will end up getting around 17g out, even with using the lid as a bellows. No RTD. After about 10 shots the paddle wheel is completely clogged and no coffee comes out. This is with me using the brush to clean the shoot every time. To clean the paddle wheel you have to disassemble the whole grind area and remove the burr.

Very dissapointing
I bought this 6 months ago. The first unit I got had a screen problem. The replacement unit that was sent to me started to have problem with the grinding. At first, I needed a 22,5 adjustment to extract my espresso. Today I need a 4 adjustment to extract not even the same espresso. I took care of the grinder and cleaned it just as Baratza recommends it.
