Torture

I just finished this book, and don't get me wrong it wasn't bad. But omg I understand having a bad childhood and background, but the author was just torturing Jude on and on. Even in adult life. The amount of sexual trauma in this book just never ends, I feel like the author should have caped some of their ideas for Judes back story because this whole story was basically just Jude being “poor me poor me” all the time, because the dude cannot catch a break.

Hard to Give 5 stars, Hard to Give Less

I read this book in one weekend. The first chapter was a little slow for me, but when I really locked in, I could not put it down. The content is heavy, and I cried a couple times, which is why I say it's hard to give it full 5 stars. But then again, how could you not. Literature is supposed to make you feel something. It's one of the most beautifully written books I've read, truly.

Unforgettable!

Jude, Willem, J.B., and Malcolm are close college friends. This tale follows these four men as they start out in life, one as an attorney, one as an actor, one as an artist, and one as an architect. As they mature, their lives change, but their devotion to one another never does. Their lives seem to be held together and to center around, Jude, the neediest of the four. This story is difficult to read at times, but the abuse that one of the characters reveals is not gratuitous. This is a passionate story of life and death, friendships and animosity, love and hatred, and emotions that can rule our lives. This tale shows the depth of both human goodness and human malevolence. The characters are extremely well-developed and believable, and I had a very difficult time putting this book down.

I think about this book everyday…

When I first started this book, it took me awhile to actually “get into” it. It was slow to start, but when I dedicated time to actually dive deep into it, I realized it has a lot of character building. I fell in love with everything about this novel. I think about Jude everyday: his pain, his love, his trauma, his story, and how important he was to his friends and family. This book changed my perspective on relationships and self love. It is a heart wrenching, traumatic story, but it also highlights how vital love and relationships are. Please be patient with yourself while you read Jude’s story. Analyze and understand his story and how it could potentially affect you and your mindset. I highly recommend this novel!! (Be prepared to cry).

Complete waste of time

If I could give it less I would. This book has made me so frustrated and angry it's unbelievable. The way that this author handles the traumatic, sensitive subject matter within this book is disgusting. And I know the book is fictional but for gods sake try to make it seem somewhat realistic. The way that she doesn't put much thought into the world building of the other characters, just puts all her focus on the trauma that the character Jude has dealt with and is currently dealing with, it just feels lazy after a while. I would not recommend. This is by far the most infuriating thing I have read. I'm not even going to attempt to finish it. O out of 5 stars
