Good dress bad smell

The dress fits well, it’s exactly as pictured and it machine washes nicely on delicate. The packaging however was a huge letdown. I bought this dress to wear to a wedding and it arrived wreaking of perfume a perfume sample was in the packaging and the smell will not come out of the dress. Macy’s please don’t put perfume in your packaging, this dress is ruined and I will never wear it. Macy’s won’t take it back because I took the tags off to wash it.
