I washed the bowls after purchase and dried them with a white kitchen towel. The towel picked up dark residue from the surface of the so-called stainless steel. Additionally, under the rim where the bowl is factory-finished, there are crevices that can trap moisture and allow mold to grow. You also can’t safely clean or disinfect herbs in these bowls using vinegar, as it causes immediate rusting, appearing as small scratched-like dots.

Stainless steel flaking off?

I love these bowls for their sturdiness and ease of use. However, when used for cookie dough, pie crust, vanilla frosting (basically anything white in color) the food has gray stuff in it. Almost appears that the stainless steel is flaking off into the food. I don’t know if I just got a bad batch of stainless steel, but I don’t think this should be happening.

My second set of these bowels!

I purchased this set of bowels 3 years ago, I seemed to always need a second bowel all the time, so I purchased a second set, they stack perfectly, so happy having two sets.
