Romantic Suspense

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Benevolence series. I have read the first book in this series, but I think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I normally do not love books that go over the same things as the other books in the series. This book does that, but you get the events through Aldo and Gloria's point of view. This book has the same time line and the same events happening that the first book as in it. I did enjoy getting it through Gloria and Aldo's point of view. I really fell in love with the characters in this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Don’t sit on this one. Definite must read

I have been sitting on this book for almost a year and I am kicking myself for waiting so long. The true mark of a great author is one that evokes real emotion from the reader. Lucy Score absolutely does not disappoint with Finally Mine. Aldo and Gloria just never get their timing right. And then once they finally do, they have both gone through so much physical or emotional trauma that they aren’t quite sure how to get through. But watching them push through the pain and discomfort is a thing of absolute beauty. My favorite part of this book is that Lucy Score does not shy away from the hard topics. Aldo comes home from war with physical and mental trauma. And this is so real in the book. There is no closed door on the emotions and let me tell you, I was all up in my feels, ugly tears and all, as I read through his experiences. Contrast that with the beauty of watching Gloria rose from the ashes of an abusive relationship and begin to not only trust those around her, but more importantly, learn to trust herself again. This book is a new favorite from this author and one I hope others pick up sooner rather than later. Don’t be like me folks. You don’t want to miss this one!

Second Book set in Benevolence

This is the second novel in the Benevolence series by Lucy Score, and while it is the same timeline as the first one, we get a peak into two totally different characters, Gloria Parker and Aldo Moretta. I found this book to be a little more heartfelt and not as steamy as the first one and I felt like we certainly got more character development. The author did a fantastic job of humanizing Gloria, allowing the reader to feel for her related to her history of abuse from her partner. I felt the same about Aldo as well, it felt like the reader was taken along on his struggle following his war time accident that left him wounded inside and out. I appreciated the character arcs and loved to see how it all worked out. I enjoyed the story, however it did seem strange that we kind of peaked in and out of the first story more than I thought that the reader would. In saying that, however I realize that it made this a book that could have been read as a standalone novel. Some parts of the book seemed to drag on continuously, and I got a bit bored in the middle, but it did pick up in the end. I feel like maybe I enjoyed the first one a bit more but that might have just been a personal preference. Overall, I'm glad I got to experience Gloria and Aldo's story. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.

Amazing!

4.5 stars rounded up WOW, this book! I think I cried through most of this story either from heartbreak, anger, or joy that it provoked, but I loved every minute of it. This story had the romance, struggle, triumph and action that had my complete attention. I flew through it, the writing was excellent, the plot had depth. Both Gloria and Aldo were amazing characters, the strength they both showed, leaning on each other when they needed the support. Aldo was so charming and sweet, I don’t know how anyone could not fall in love with him. Gloria showed such determination, drive and resilience and I was in awe of her the whole book. I would highly recommend checking this story out. Trigger warnings: Domestic abuse, combat trauma, bullying, blood I received an advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.

Excellent read!

Loved Gloria and Aldo's story! I was introduced to this couple in Pretend You're Mine and couldn't wait to find out what happens between these two. Both are wounded - Gloria because of a history of domestic abuse and Aldo due to an injury during active service. Loved how they came together and can't wait for the next in the series!

Deals well with the life of returning soldiers.

This book was originally written in 2018. It's undergone some updates, including the cover. I really enjoyed the story. As the wife of a wounded warrior, I really got into the storyline of the physical and mental struggles of the two characters who returned home from war. If you think that someone goes off to a war zone and returns even close to the person they were when they left, you are mistaken. Just flat out mistaken. The person that you loved when he was deployed will not be the person that you loved when they get home. You can either cut and run or learn to love that new person and try to help him through it. I really appreciated the honesty in the book about that. This is a romance of two damaged souls. It was a beautiful romance that also included lots of friendship and family running throughout. I haven't read the first book yet, but I certainly will. Lovely! The Bonus Epilogue was perfect. I was gifted a copy of this book by Sourcebooks/Bloom Books and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

An ok read

Having met Gloria and Aldo in the previous book it was nice to see them as the main characters in this book. Gloria at first seemed like a weak character but slowly gained strength. Aldo is a character that is easy to like and cheer for and hope for a HEA. It was a good story.
