chipped dinner plates after a few uses!

I purchased 3 sets of 4 (12) of these dinner plates. After I received the delivery, I used the packaging to donate the IKEA dinner plates I had used for MANY years. After a few uses, 2 of the dinner plates chipped. I attempted to return and reorder 1 set of dinner plates to give them another chance. However, the manager in the home department at the Macy’s Altamonte Springs, FL, store informed me that I could not return/exchange the damaged dinner plates without the original packaging. Why would I keep the original packaging for dinner plates I plan to use every day for years to come?! Not only am I disappointed with the poor quality of the dinner plates purchased, I am also VERY DISAPPOINTED with your ORIGINAL PACKAGING policy. I used my Macy’s credit card for this purchase, and had my order # and delivery information.
