Was unsure how I'd like this dress due to the reviews, but decided to try it anyway, due to the sale price. Yes it's a bit baggier than I usually wear, I'm 5' 5" & 130 lbs, I purchased an XS. I ran it through the dryer on a low setting with a wet washcloth which softened it up quite a bit & took away the new material stiffness. It hangs great now, & not too baggy looking! I love it!
Love, Love, Love this dress!!!
I bought this dress in black and love it! I've worn it multiple times already, as it is perfect for this hot weather we've been having in LA. Nice & light & airy and very comfortable and cute!
My favorite summer dress!
I love easy cotton sundresses, so when I saw this one I gave it a try. I wear a small or med in Free People (I'm 5'3, size 6 dress). Because this appeared to run big, I ordered small in black and blush, intending to return one. Well, I loved them both and have been wearing nonstop! Yes, they feel a little big when you first try them on, but after washing and hanging to dry a few times, mine have shrunk a bit and are perfect now. Because of the lace, I do wear with a half slip. So happy to have these simple, cool dresses to wear with sandals this very hot summer!
Not true to size- Oversized...
Why are people saying that this dress is a perfect fit? It is not. What it is is super big. I am 5'4, 105 lbs, and almost always an XS. I ordered an XS and had to keep checking the sizing on the dress tag and the price tag to make sure I ordered correctly. Yep..XS! The dress is really cute- I have the peach, but the picture is misleading. I like how it is airy and it is truly comfortable, but I will need to wear a tank underneath and maybe a belt to cinch it. I guess I could have it taken in too, but why should I have to do that?
Nice Dress but...Super HUGE !!
My usual size is between 2 or 4 (I'm 5'5" 118lbs) when I ordered this dress there's no size XS available so I thought size Small should fit fine. I was wrong, this dress is HUGE especially in chest area, I can pinch 2 inches each sides to make it fit. So...will be returning this dress...too bad it's a cute and an airy dress, perfect for this summer.
Yuck.
Pros: -loose and breezy -cotton -nice colors [got peach, white and black] Cons: -horizontal lace is placed awkwardly making the dress silhouette look weird and unsmooth -smells funny -super loose in the bodice I'm 5'2" and 130ish lbs with 32DD...typically a solid 6...the small was SUPER loose in the chest...I like the looseness at the bottom but it just isn't the best FP thing I've owned... I'll keep it only because I used Macy's Money which you lose upon return...given what I paid, I could lose money :$ Bought the Free People Priscilla Ruffled Crochet-Trim Dress at the same time and it is LOVELY. This...not so much. I plan to make it a house dress. :|
massive & awkward
I know Free People regularly runs big, but this dress looked to be semi-fitted online. I ordered a small (i’m 5’4 130, usually a 4-6) and it felt like at least a large, if not an extra large! I was swimming in it and had at least 3-4 inches of extra fabric all around. I debated reordering an XS but there’s no way it would be anywhere near fitted - I’d order 2 sizes down if possible... The fabric was really nice, a good stiff cotton, and the black wasn’t see-through in and of itself, however the lace insets are in the MOST AWKWARD POSITIONS. The vertical ones on the top area fall directly over the one place you’d need to cover, and the horizontal inset in the middle falls directly over your crotch (at least at my height). It would literally be IMPOSSIBLE to wear this without a bra and at least a half slip under it, completely defeating the purpose of a little cotton sundress :( It could be used as a bathing suit coverup, but who really wants a full-length coverup anyway? Back it goes :(
Cute dress, but huge!
This is a cute dress. I got a small and if I keep will have to have taken in about 2in on both sides of chest underarm area. I love Free People but sometimes the sizing is incredibly off. Im usually a M but I could have gone XS and still had room. It'll be a great beach dress. Still not sure if I'll keep it's so big.
