Sharp

I bought this set about a month ago-- these knifes are Sharp right out of the box and the block is heavy duty. The knifes have exceeded my expectations for quality and usefulness, the self sharpener is a nice addition also-- the only knock I would give this set is the stainless steel cover on the block came off- no biggie just reglued and all's good

High quality set

This is a beautiful elegant set. The handles are thick, sturdy and contoured to fit perfectly in your hand. The blades are thick high quality material. I would also like to mention the block is an attractive wood grain that fits our kitchen decor perfectly. So not only is this set a high quality functional set it also looks beautiful on your countertop.

Oversized knife block?

I really can't wrap my head around why they chose to make the knife block three to four inches longer than necessary. It's such a waste of precious counter space, as it protrudes nearly four inches further than it needs to, serving no real purpose. On top of that, the steak knives are serrated. Why is that? You already have a good set of knives, yet they opted for serrated steak knives. All a serrated knife does is tear into your meat. If you find yourself needing a serrated knife to slice through steak, maybe you shouldn't be cooking steak in the first place, as it suggests you don't know the proper way to cut it. Honestly, there's no reason for a serrated knife in meat preparation unless you're not familiar with how to handle it correctly.
