Dark, Twisted, and... Kinda Dumb?
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 stars) 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3 spice) Wasn't sure if I wanted to give this one 2 or 3 stars. There's a solid storyline in this book, smoldering spice, and a dark twistedness that weaves through everything. Was the book easy to read? Most of the time, yes—though I did find myself skimming in parts. Now here’s the problem: I felt like almost everyone was just really, really stupid at times. I kept groaning and wanting to slam my head into the table—like, what are people thinking?! It started strong, and I was following the story, but the ending? It made me want to pull my hair out. There were moments I disliked so much I had to put the book down and watch puppy videos just to reset. 😅 Maybe this is why I don’t usually read books without fantasy or magic. In fantasy, I can excuse the madness as “not real,” but with no magic, I focus only on the facts—and when things feel off, it really stands out. That said, there were parts I genuinely enjoyed. Some scenes felt well-developed, the action was exciting, and there were moments of fun. But overall, this one just wasn’t for me. I didn’t hate it... but I definitely didn’t love it either. So, I’m going with: It was okay. Would I recommend this book? 🤷♀️ Not sure Would I reread this book? ❌ No How would I sum up this book? 💀🔥 Dark and twisted, layered with action and questionable choices.

LOVED!!
I really loved this book and it made me want to buy the rest of the series. Overall my opinion it is a good starter for people who want to read dark romances. Also the plot and a few of the lines made me cry and crash out and the ending don’t even get me started I’m just too happy for them.

On the edge of my seat read!
The first few chapters I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this book. Eventually though, the plot got so juicy and unpredictable! I wasn’t sure who the the real villain was and the love story was also so unpredictable but so passionate. I’m looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.

Great but could be a little dark for some readers
I usually like small town romance novels and something a little bit "softer". This was my first book outside of Hannah Grace and Elsie Silver books. I loved the characters and loved the thriller parts of the story. I do feel it was a little bit dark with the romance for my reading taste. But maybe its jut something new and I wasn't prepared for it. But I cant deny it 5 stars because it truly was a spectacular read. I dont know yet if I will read any of the others for the Never After series but maybe if I am in the mood I will. I do like how Emily McIntires writing style. Here are some quotes from the book that I love that I wanted to share. "He was a cad, darling." His eyes glint."Not worthy to taste the air you breathe." (page 33) "But we're all a little twisted, and there's no such thing as good and evil." (page 244) "Darling, if im the dark then you're the stars." (page 271) (less)

Emotionally Exausting
I had to stop at 14% complete because I just was emotionally exhausted from the MMC’s chapters. I realized this isn’t how a book should make me feel. I had to take a break for a few days every time I read a few chapters, when normally I fly through books I enjoy, and am eager to read more. With this book unfortunately I kept needing to feel not guilty to stop reading the book. Yes, I read the trigger warnings, and prologue in the beginning of the book, and still chose to read which was my fault. It was also my fault because I kept seeing people saying this book was a DNF, and didn’t listen. I guys the Disney fan in me was just excited for the spicy “Peter Pan” story. I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1, because I will say that it is well written. I did enjoy the writing style, but not the emotionally draining part & feeling fatigued after reading.

I never knew I needed this book , Omgosh let me tell you! I loved this book so much , this book got me back into reading and I’m so greatful for it , I’m so greatful for Emily , I’m obsessed, this is a must read

An actual dark romance that is DARK. The characters are thought out, they have their own drives and goals in life that don’t relate to their (eventual) relationship. But once that relationship starts… WOW. The build up between them is great and I like that the smut is something we work towards, but isn’t put off until the end of the book for dramatic effect. Plot twists galore, but the narrative never strays too far from Wendy and James. A pleasure to read, and re-read.
