Great shorts, bad fraying

Great shorts, just what I was looking for except they have purposeful frays on the back just above the pockets. I’m not sure who decided that looks good or stylish but I don’t like it at all. I’m keeping the shorts because they fit will and you can’t see the fray with my shirt covering it.
