Great material, falls short on execution

I have wanted to love this brand for so long, and I think the a reason I don't is that they are not able to produce designs that are chic and modern and they fall short on the final execution. 1) Designs: Their cuts and designs are just not it. I don't know how else to explain it other than "unfashionable." Most of their pieces just lacks that "wow" factor. They can feel weirdly dated. 2) Execution: I think this close up really shows that they don't consider the final touches on a piece. They chose these navy buttons that have two holes, which does its job to hold the fabric together, but as a decorative element these types of buttons look cheap. I would have liked to see them use silk covered thread back buttons instead which would have really elevated the look. These buttons aren't even aligned - each of the buttons two sew holes go what way it wants. I tend to stick to the basics at LilySilk because I think they have been able to capture what the market wants for those types of pieces. I tried to go out of my comfort zone this time, and this blouse really showed me why I never gravitated more "interesting" pieces at Lily Silk and it is a shame.
