Less is more in this no-frills, trail-ready shell. Ultra-packable, lightweight, and watertight, this rain shell is a minimalist backpacker's dream thanks to 2.5L Pertex® Shield Revolve fabric that's durable, waterproof, windproof, and breathable. Reduced seam construction saves weight and space in your pack while boosting comfort and durability under your pack straps. Fully taped seams and C0 DWR (Durable Water Repellent) give you leakproof, water-shedding confidence, with exposed water-resistant zippers cutting bulk and extra ounces. Hand pockets are perfectly placed for easy access when you're clipped into your hip belt or harness, while pit zips let you dump heat so you don't clam up when rainy miles and vert add up. A fixed hood with peripheral cord adjustment, a drawcord elastic waist, and adjustable cuffs let you cinch up closures to keep water out and comfort locked in.

Pertex vs Goretex

The Minimalist jacket used to be made out of Goretex. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that this was Pertex instead. It's not as heavy or as water resistant. But I figured this out before I purchased the jacket and I was willing to try. I really love the Pertex jacket. It's a different animal, but great nonetheless. I want it mostly to take to the ocean where it's damp and windy. I often also have to stow it in my already full backpack. This jacket does all those things better than my Goretex version. I have both and I'm happy I have both. This was definitely a great buy.

Nicer than Precip jacket

Neater material than the older Marmot Precip - it doesn’t have a wrinkled appearance

Great jacket - highly recommended

Great jacket, great fit, and most importantly keeps you dry in the heaviest of rain.

Not on par with its predecessor

Lightweight and easy to pack. Fit is unnecessarily more generous than its goretex predecessor. Cuffs are not as secure and the external breast pocket has been deleted on this version. Fabric is noisier so wildlife hears you coming…

Great Waterproof system

Jacket held up fantastic when I got stuck in a crazy rain storm. I was super impressed by how I did not get completely soaked. Material held up great and I was not wet at all. Great product.
